Ask a Librarian is the ultimate in "collaborative" service to the state of Florida. Sometimes librarians in other counties can help my patrons and sometimes librarians in our county helps them. No matter how you slice it, it gives extra library service to those who might now otherwise have it available. Beyond that, you can count "transactions" for the purpose of statistics, but often transactions may be in-depth and not as cut and dried as counting "how many?" This service is essential to providing help and information, especially during hours when libraries may be closed.
