I'm signing because the city needs to listen to its community. After emailing my concerns, I received a response that basically said " too bad, this is in the master Bike plan." Ugh.

As someone who lives on a side street (near 90th & 40th), I am deeply concerned that this plan will push cars onto our smaller side streets where children walk to school, without any sidewalks.
We already have cars using 40th Ave to avoid traffic on 35th Ave, and this problem will only get worse if this SDOT plan goes through. There are schools in this area (Thorton Creek Elem, Our Lady of the Lake), and increasing cars here will be dangerous.
In addition, the city already spent money to install a neighborhood bike greenway just a couple of blocks east of 35th Ave. To now re-do all of that, to ignore that greenway, just seems short-sighted and a waste of money.

I am signing this petition because I do not believe all members of the community including but not limited to pedestrians from young to old, local businesses, and drivers were not taken into account when building this plan. I certainly understand the importance of biking in our community, but safety comes from a collective effort of all who use our roadways. It is a public space and should provide equal access to support all parties involved, not just one.

I'm signing this because I believe it will create a hazardous environment for bicyclers and children and I general all school traffic on 35th not to mention cause more gridlock. Huge school buses turn on to 35th and parents are darting here and there getting their kids from at least 4 schools in the area. Putting these lanes in is an accident waiting to happen! It is clear that the proper assessment of this street has not happened yet just been pushed through quickly. There is a bicycle greenway 4 blocks down on 39th -which I live on- that is sufficient for bicyclers. Please avoid unnecessary accidents or death by putting these lanes in.

SDOT/Mayor Durkan, please rewrite this nutty plan! Current one turns several miles of critical arterial into single lane roads without (sufficient) turn lanes or space for public transit, all to accommodate redundant bike lanes...!

While bike lanes are a good idea for bicyclists, 35th is not a good choice. The consequences will negatively impact life on 35th, as well as cause spillover to other roads. The 39th Ave. alternative seems to make sense.

As a seasoned/experienced bike commuter I come home up 35th Ave at peak hours Mon thru Thu. If I were not a seasoned rider I am well aware of the readily available and accessible option of taking 39th all the way home. I choose to ride up 35th and have absolutely NO problem whatsoever with the current configuration. I am completely UNWILLING to give up the current parking situation for bike lanes as well as for many other reasons. It doesn't make sense and will NOT work as currently planned. No no no!

SDOT and our council rep Rob Johnson have been misleading and lying to us from the beginning. It’s a game they play pretending like they’re really listening to us. Next election cycle Rob Johnson has got to be shown the door!

Buses are already using more than one lane in places because there is just not enough room-I don't see how this plan will do anything but make travel more difficult for everyone

Seattle seems to be doing everything in their power to get us out of our cars. Bikes lanes are another tool they use to reach their goal, We voted these leaders in, think about who you vote for during the next election.

Bike Lanes on 35th will be unsafe for riders and cause massive congestion. It will move cars into side streets which is a danger to our children. We already have great north south bike Lanes a few blocks over that are safe for riders.

I bike to work year-round. I would never take the proposed 35th Avenue bike lane because I use side streets which are much safer and quieter. There is already a designated bike route running parallel several blocks to the east, which is very pleasant. Please please please stop this from happening. We need the parking space. As a year-round bike commuter in the neighborhood, I think this is a really bad idea.
