This plan does not help anyone. Bicyclists don't think it's safe, businesses lose customer parking, cars and busses will be stuck more in traffic, the library, church and synagogue (all at corner of 68 and 35th) will lose a bus-stop. Please do not follow through on this plan.

Seattle DOT: Please listen to those of us who live here and rely on 35th Ave NE for business and commuting: Drop this plan for bike lanes on 35th Ave NE. This is already a too-narrow corridor for cars. Bikes can CONTINUE to use other routes. Do the responsible thing: LISTEN to those who live here.

SDOT wanted comments on this plan, but when I responded, they said that it had already been decided in the Bike Master Plan. Bike lanes may make sense on other streets, but not on most sections of 35th.

SDOT need to review the Bike Master Plan, before expanding it. I wrote to SDOT and City Council to request stopping this project. They need to review arterials if bike lanes they have put in are safe. The bike lane on Roosevelt esp @ entrances to Trader Joes and UWA clinic are dangerous.

If you're going to add a bike line, make it a PROTECTED BIKE LINE. This is stupid without one.

Our city counsel and transportation planning committee have rocks in their head. Have they forgotten who is their boss, where their pay checks comes from?
Stop taking our roads and parking away so you can accommodate cyclist who should be paying a licensing fee, carrying cyclist insurance, should wear protective/reflective clothing & helmets.

Sounds like a terrible plight. I really do feel for you John Moore. I can't believe they would try to optimize traffic flow and safety for our growing population here in Seattle.
Crazy idea though... if you are driving to get groceries... you could park in their parking lot... Just a thought though...

I too would compare this to real disasters. Question, Would you rather have an earthquake, or this repainting project? I for one, find their proposals for the street paint to be far more concerning than a natural disaster.

Yeah, vehicles really scale well with a growing population, and nobody actually rides a bike beyond the age of 15, right???

Yeah, they should probably also eliminate bus stops, since that takes away parking and SOV space too! If you don't drive a car, you shouldn't be on 35th. No bikes or walking allowed!
