We are writing to strongly oppose department of transportation plans to change 35th Avenue NE. DOT's plan is to take away parking on one side of the street and make 35th NE, a busy and important arteriole, congested and difficult for the thousands of people who use it and the businesses located on it. As you know, the DOT's plan is to place two bicycle lanes on this busy thoroughfare. This area already has streets established for biking adjacent to 35th NE. Additional biking lanes on 35th NE will inconvenience many residents and businesses for the sake of the relatively few bicycle riders who already have nearby streets for their usage.
PLEASE consider stopping DOT's planned changes to 35th Avenue NE.

39th Avenue is already a designated bike path; it is away from major traffic/bus routes. Do we need another just 4 blocks away?

35th is already congested and challenging for all modes of transportation. I'd rather have bikes riding on the side streets than cars cutting through neighborhoods to avoid the congestion --- please route bike traffic to side streets for the good of everyone.

Why use arterial for bikes? As a bicyclist myself, I ride on SIDE STREETS or the BG Trail, not in heavy traffic.

I live near NE 75th St & Banner Way & have suffered traffic jams for several months now. I've seen ONE bike the entire time since the bike lanes went in. Very frustrating!!!

No thank you. Bikers safely use 36th including spouse. 35th can't take less room for the huge increase already experiencing.

We do not need bicycle lanes on 35th. There is not enough room for the necessary parking and car lanes and bike lanes. We need the parking.

I'm a Wedgwood resident, patronize the businesses along 35th, drive a modest amount (being retired) and occasionally ride a bicycle. When doing the latter, I would seriously resent the city seeking to slow down impatient drivers by putting my fragile old carcass in their way. If you must enforce a lower speed limit, call on the police.

35th is a destination street traveled by many on foot, especially seniors who appreciate the small businesses along the road. More traffic, the addition of bicycles, and the general busyness of the proposed changes will make the neighborhood street unpleasant, crowded, and possibly unsafe. Please do not add bicycle lanes on 35th.

The planned changes have nothing to do with the use of the street. The neighborhood small businesses will be hurt by removal of parking, which is used by (as mentioned) elderly, moms-with-kids, etc.
