As a cyclist and resident bike lanes on 35th Ave NE are a foolish idea. There are other streets better suited for bike traffic that will not negatively impact local businesses.

Reducing lane width will cause large congestion at stop lights with cars turning left. Impatient drivers caught in gridlock will cause a very real safety hazard to bicyclists and children on 35th. It will be far more expensive to undo the bike lane than to cancel it now before someone gets hurt.

STOP, get a better design for 35th, or do nothing. It works just fine as it is. This city has messed up all the roads and made them more unsafe for everyone. Put up better cross walks. There is an entire greenway running north-south a few blocks away that is for bikes. Stop driving businesses away!

There are alternate side streets that are safer routes for bicycles, and one that already exists on 39th. There are not many alternatives for parking around the library and local businesses.

As I bike rider, I think the City is way over the line and is ruining neighborhood to build useless infrastructure based on pro-bike ideology instead of common sense.

I am a year round cycle commuter. We keep putting bike lanes on the wrong roads. 39th is better and already there. Hurting one group is wrong when it is a bad usage and just to prove a point.

I've biked around NE Seattle for 3and1/2 decades. Plenty of side streets to use w/o ruining arterials and creating slower traffic thus more waiting, carbon emissions, slower emergency response time, etc. How did the bike lobby get so much clout as to overwhelm more general community input and spend so much money to benefit so few. guess the planners just don't want to lose face. arrrgghh!

I cycle to work and would Never use 35th, even with bike lanes. Why? It's an arterial, with lots of cars going very fast and compared to residential streets, much less pleasant to ride through.
In addition, parking has become very tight at the library at 68th and 35th since the change of the Theodora to market rate apartments and the building of the town houses one block up. To remove parking on the west side of 35th means library patrons have severely reduced access. What are parents, who want to bring toddlers to he library going to do? You can't expect a two year old to walk two or three blocks--some of them steeply uphill.

The Burke Gilman trail is within a block of 35th. Why would we need another bike path. Spend that $$ on fixing the homeless issue or something of value. Seattle has changed in a bad way and it seems completely ridiculous to pour money into a bike lane! Continued disappointments on what is happening here!
