Bike lanes can go on side streets -- not already crammed arterials! This plan will make bikers less safe and cause more congestion.

This is already an insanely congested area, please do not make it more so by adding unnecessary bicycle lanes. Burke Gilman and 39th provide ample support for our cycling community.

There is a bike greenway lane 4 blocks to the east that never gets used! The super minority of bike riders should not dictate traffic patterns !!

Bikers already have safe streets to use 3 blocks over. Having them with cars on a major arterial is asking for lots of trouble

35th Ave NE, especially between 55th and 75th will not be wide enough for two buses to make it through going in opposite directions if this passes. Don't do this!

We already have biker lanes! Make it stop...I find the additional biker lanes on arterials has made in more unsafe for both bikers (who do not follow street rules) and cars (who have trouble see8ng these bikers).

Why is this even necessary? Just a few years ago "sharrows" were created on 38th Ave NE. Wasn't the whole idea behind that to separate the cyclists from cars to keep them safe? Traffic is so bad now on 35th that I can't see how adding cycle traffic will improve things? If parking is removed, all the customers that patronize the local businesses will be forced to circle through the neighborhood in search of parking. Theses neighborhoods are FULL of walkers (pedestrians), and many of these streets HAVE NO SIDEWALKS. Is accommodating the few cyclists that use 35th worth putting many more pedestrian residents at risk?

We’ve seen what happens when the city removes street parking to add bike lanes on busy arterials through NE Seattle neighborhoods. You get far worse traffic backups than ever before, especially during rush hours. We live on 35th and are furious about this. Supporters claim travel time will barely slow down, but they must be citing an estimated average of 24/7 travel time, not looking at rush hours, when most of the traffic is there. Supporters also say driving lanes will not decrease. That is not actually true, though, because when you remove street parking, it becomes impossible for people to drive around people who have stopped and are waiting to turn (or the 65 buses that run every ten minutes or package delivery trucks or garbage trucks or others). Supporters claim buses will run faster, and they claim this because the plan includes closing some bus stops, so people will have to walk farther to catch a bus. We have so many older people with walkers and canes catching the bus on this street. I can’t believe anyone thinks that’s a good idea. This plan would make travel on 35th harder for everyone other than bicyclists, who ALREADY have bike lanes on 39th, a much safer street for them, and many bicyclists have signed this petition and said so. Don’t even get me started on how this is likely to affect the locally owned, small businesses, most of which don’t have off street parking of their own. This plan makes NO sense to people who actually live in this neighborhood and seems to be getting pushed through by outsiders as part of the master plan without anyone seeming to care what we think. People actually live in Wedgwood and don’t just travel through it to get to other places. They should be listening to us.

I am strongly opposed to this bike lane - parking along 35th is critical as is the ability for cars to go around each other at the stop lights and buses.
