Side streets safer for bike lanes. this is a major artery with parking necessary for businesses. Stop adding more unnecessary bike lanes!

Safer to bike on 39thAve NE, which already connects to the Burke Gilman Trail. Roosevelt added the bike lane and it adds to the frenzy with potential of not seeing bikers on rainy dark days.
Love the Canadian way of having flashing lights at major crosswalks. It works.
Tax money could be better used to build infrastructure for sidewalks . The downtown bike lanes were created without good stewardship of monies appropriated to Seattle City. Be mindful city council and Mayor Durkins.
How will the added bikelanes allow individuals with wheelchairs to get from a bus onto the sidewalk?
The local businesses in Wedgwood is what keeps the community connected.

ON MY BIKE IN SEATTLE SINCE 1973
Greetings: I have been riding my bike all over (I mean ALL OVER) Seattle streets since the early 70s. I now live in Wedgwood and ride on 35th Ave. many times a week getting groceries, going to the post office, having coffee at Starbucks on 70th, etc.. I continue to ride all over the city, too, doing errands, going to the doctor, shopping at Northgate, going downtown to meet friends and here’s the thing I’ve learned (I’m now 67):
More people need to bike on the side-streets that run parallel to the arterials, it’s a no-brainer: It’s infinitely safer, it’s just as fast (yes it is!), it’s a quieter and more beautiful ride AND it doesn’t cost the city a single dime.
I try to tell everyone I meet (especially those irritating, idiotic newbies on bicycles — kids in the kiddy-cart, flying down streets like 75th or 65th at breakneck speeds, wearing headphones, talking on their smartphones no less as if they’re gods, etc. are they kidding?! I tell people because, as a group, we bike riders are making a lot of drivers REALLY ANGRY. It’s a shock to me these days, after FORTY-FIVE YEARS of riding to be the constant target of enraged drivers.
No exaggeration: I probably avoid being killed 2 or 3 times a week by an angry driver who I skillfully avoid or whose moves I anticipate. (I tend to be an extremely polite rider, too, on places like the Burke-Gillman, btw.)
Anyway, what we don’t need on 35th is a ridiculously expensive, totally unnecessary, road-rage-creating, bike-lane that almost no one uses. Have you seen the bike lanes on Roosevelt Way NE or on 75th? THEY’RE ALWAYS EMPTY BUT THE CARS ARE BACKED UP A MILE. (I know because I also DRIVE all over these neighborhoods, too.)
You get the picture. Don’t do it!

I am in full support of the Save 35th NE movement. We can work out a plan together to create a safer route for bikers that does not end up making a nightmare out of 35th NE. We just need a chance to do so.

There is no need for a bike lane on 35th. There is already a safe and rapid corridor on 39th that could be improved for a fraction of the price. The only thing a bike lane on 35th will accomplish is further bottlenecks and destroying small businesses in our community.

Keep 39th as bike preferred, also Burke Gilman is right here too. Crowding 35th will be dangerous to all. Please remember not every citizen can handle a bike! I want to walk to those businesses on 35th, but they will leave if you take away the limited parking that exists!
