Every effort should be made to restore the old homes that give JP its character & charm. Every time an old house or tree comes down here, it leaves a hole that makes JP a less desirable place to live. We need to preserve history, not tear it down

This building should be saved! It's beautiful and has a lot of embodied energy in it. It would be so sad to demolish the structure and haul it off to a landfill when it could be repurposed.

Jamaica Plain has been the favorite target of developers for decades. We are accustomed to their taking over existing buildings, cutting up wonderful old homes into multiple units & pouncing on every inch of vacant lots. The one thing we do not need is destruction of another graceful, antebellum gem with its expanse of back yard & glorious columns facing the street.
Our neighborhood has joined against heedless demolition of this beautiful piece of Boston's history & hurried construction of unnecessary condominiums in our, already overbuilt, cheek-by-jowl community; overbuilt in the name of the almighty dollar.

This house is one of the true architectural treasures of JP -- it MUST be saved! It's not too late, structurally, to restore the building and convert it to condos, which could make the project work economically.

I've been watching this house for 25 years slowly disintegrate. Every time I walk by, I'm saddened for the loss the most unique house on the block. I have a background in restoration. From what I've seen from the outside, this house is probably beyond saving. Any buyer would have to spend a lot of money for the land and then a whole lot more to fix the damage from decades of neglect. Restoring the house with all its original detail would be “wicked expensive”. And… the location isn’t so great.

It would be an absolute disgrace to tear down this home. Think of all the beautiful neighborhoods in the city and why we adore them. It’s their beauty charm we are drawn to, not soulless box homes made from Home Depot
