My family knows the owner and made a very fair offer on this home in 2020. We were willing to sign and commit to preserving the home to the best of our ability (There is asbestos in the basement and it is rotting on the inside) and we did not want to build condos, and wanted to preserve the architectural details. We were turned down by the owner. Like a previous commenter said - the owner has spurned repeated offer from groups eager to preserve the home.

This is up for sale now (pretty cheap, at least for a starting price). Hopefully we can do something to ensure that the buyer won't tear it down!

I dreamt of owning tht house one day when I moved to jp in 2000:(. I dream big but I love this house and there is something I can not put my finger on but the spiritual nature is so powerful. Tjp

I have lived in Jamaica Plain for over 40 years and I am sickened by the rampant destruction of beautiful buildings, as well as the displacement of longtime residents, by greedy developers. Maximizing profit should not be the primary goal of development projects.
As opportunities to preserve our architectural heritage dwindle, we have to act quickly and aggressively.

The history, character, grace, and stateliness of this house deserves saving. The wrecking ball demolishes not just buildings but eviscerates the continuing visual presence of community legacy.

Please do not destroy senseless history, but make new owner improvement without changing outside. It would be shame to alter or tearing this beautiful building for the whole neighborhood. So long Ruediger Volk

Sadly, the owner has spurned repeated offers from groups eager to preserve the house, offers that would have allowed him to remain on the property. In Boston, landmark designation takes two years. I support the proposal to rehabilitate the Greek Revival portion of the house (with partial demolition of the rear additions) for use as affordable housing--and design review by the City and historic designation. Historic Boston, Inc. could develop this property (owner refused their overtures).
