Despite returning funding for 4th and 5th grade strings to the budget, the Souderton Area School Board is still proposing to eliminate 3rd grade strings from the Souderton Area music program. Not only is this program very popular with the students, it is an integral part of the Souderton Area music program. The House GOP's proposed budget will restore approximately 30% of the cuts recommended by the Governor. Part of the proposed allocations for these funds is a $210 million increase in K-12 spending. This will allow room for some cuts, like the 3rd grade strings program, to be restored. By signing this petition, you are letting the members of the Souderton Area School Board know that you value the 3rd grade strings program and that you would like to see any monies allocated by the state go towards its restoration. What a joke. Keeping kids off screens and teaching them an instrument is the best use of school money. Keep the program!!

My daughter has been looking forward to this since kindergarten. Music is so important for these kids and cutting it now is just wrong.
