Apparently not a joke? My kids enjoy riding their bikes more than anything. And they do so safely without bothering anybody.

To anyone against kids (and adults like me) riding skateboards, scooters, go karts and the like within the gates of Santaluz, just remember the joy you experienced as a child participating in these kinds of activities. If this doesn't spark some wonderful memories of freedom and adventure, and at least somewhat of a change of heart, might I suggest you reconsider living in a family community and take a look at the beautiful new 55+ community down the road. Parents need to consistently teach their kids to be safe, but inhibiting a big part of our kids' development is not acceptable.

Santa lose is our community within Gates. Our children are in their mid teens. They are very responsible and enjoy riding bikes, skateboards, scooters. It's a large community and it is their way of getting from one neighborhood to the other. Taking That away from them we think is unnecessary and cruel. It's not all about the older neighbors in his neighborhood.

My children 10 & 12 are avid bike riders in the neighborhood. I have seen many accidents with bikes and cars over the years, even in residential neighborhoods, and consequently have taught my kids to ride on the trails and sidewalks. They always pull over to the pedestrians and respectfully share the path. Several times they have been confronted by walkers who claim that bikers are not allowed on the paths. Often these people have uncontrollable dogs who are on very long leashes and risk getting entangled in the bike .... dangerous for the dogs and rider! I am not going to put my kids on the road and risk them being hit by a car. We need to all share the paths and trails and be respectful of each other and safety. Annalise

Those freedoms we enjoy inside the gates are one of the reason Santaluz is so great. Besides, I'm one of those big kids who likes to scooter around with my kids.

The beauty and the secret of Santa Luz is that people from all ages can enjoy living in this private and safe community. It would be VERY important to show the numbers of our latest census where more than 700 kids from ages 0 to 17 live, and us as parents have to speak out for them.

Let's let the few know how big our roar is. I wholeheartedly support golf carts, scooters and the like in the neighborhood. This is the safest place for our children to experience the thrill of childhood. Parents do need to teach road safety, however. There is a 55 and over community up the road. I'll help pack whoever wants to head there.

Let kids be kids and find real problems in the world to solve. Kids sold into slavery, drunken driving, and this is where we feel we need to invest time managing resources.

I would expect this subject matter to be discussed at the new retirement community down Camino Del Sur. The fact that we are discussing this in a community where young families are the bedrock is patently absurd.

C'mon! This is ridiculous. Why are people with no kids always picking on the kids in this community? Remember the "adult only" hours in the pool idea?! Freedom behind the gates and families are two of the best things about our little enclave, let's not over legislate! Less government. This is as dumb of an idea as building a fence around Santaluz.

Absolutely children should safely be allowed to ride their bikes, scooters and any other outdoor activities on the street with proper supervision. We are a family neighborhood with many kids and live in a gated community where our children can play safely in front of their homes, parks and around the neighborhood. A ban on this would, in my opinion not want families to live in our community.

Kids should be allowed to be kids. If this passes, I forsee a lot of families leaving this community.

This is a family community and if children are simply playing and following the rules of the road, they should be allowed to play. We should not be forcing children to stop being kids. Kids like to be outside and playing with their outdoor toys. This type of rule is a punishment. If a couple of kids are destroying property due to the use of this equipment then those individuals should be addressed and parents should be informed. But my kids follow the rules of the road and I am with them on their bikes and scooters and I will continue to let them ride their bikes and scooters. This type of rule is simply too domineering.

As long as our kids are being safe, and respectful of traffic laws and vehicles, there is no reason to ban skateboards, scooters, etc from this community!

We wholeheartedly support the petition. Being such a family friendly community is what attracted us to Santaluz and believe it's part of what makes it so special.
