Sand Dollar Avenue one-way request

To: City Planning Department, Corpus Christi
From: the residents of Sand Dollar Avenue, Packery subdivision
A petition to convert the existing portion of Sand Dollar Ave. to a one-way street at such time that Sand Dollar/Tortugas Ave. is developed from Verdemar Dr. to Hwy 361.
It appears that the city intends to develop Sand Dollar Avenue (formerly referred to as Tortugas Ave.) from Verdemar Dr. to 361.
It appears that traffic from Port Aransas would turn onto the section of Tortugas/Sand Dollar Ave and many drivers would be inclined to continue down the established portion of Sand Dollar Ave. to Packery Channel Park Rd. before exiting to PR 22.
The existing section of Sand Dollar Ave. is narrow, residential, and not designed for heavy traffic.
The section of Packery Channel Park Rd from Sand Dollar Ave to PR 22 is windy, narrow, has a speed bump, and is not designed for heavy traffic. Furthermore, more traffic would increase the disruption of bird migration in our already threatened environment.
We understand that the city already intends to route traffic from Sand Dollar/Tortugas Ave. out Verdemar to PR 22, not direct traffic down Sand Dollar Ave, but has not determined the exact method.
Therefore, we the undersigned residents of Sand Dollar Ave. hereby petition the city to convert the existing portion of Sand Dollar Ave. to a one way street running from Villa Maria Isabel to Verdemar Dr. The current residents can then turn left or right on Verdemar to exit the neighborhood, but traffic from Port Aransas down Sand Dollar/Tortugas Ave. would not continue down our narrow residential street and disrupt the enjoyment of our quiet neighborhood.
