City Councilmembers,

I feel that it is my right to be able to raise hens in order to meet my family's food security needs.  I believe that by researching reasonable codes being implemented by other cities, we can create a situation that addresses all the needs and concerns of our community.  As a citizen of San Clemente, I strongly encourage you to request the Animal Control Center to draft a new Chicken-Friendly code for your consideration.

I have spent my mornings researching the ordinances used by neighboring towns to prepare a formal proposal for the council. Seeing so many neighbors discuss their own interest in food security has been incredibly encouraging for me and my family.

Seeing this kind of momentum on the proposal for my backyard hens feels surreal. It is clear that so many other families value the same independence and simple security that I do.

Finally someone is bringing this to the council. Food security starts at home.

Too many rules here. Just let people have their chickens already!! It’s not like they are loud.

This is common sense. Most major cities already allow this. San Clemente is way behind the times.

Ridiculous that we cant even have a few birds on our own property. Hope the council wakes up soon.

Fresh eggs are way better than the store bought ones anyway. Let us raise a few hens in the backyard it really isnt hurting anyone.
