Westport is my homeplace and I grew up at the Quay. So I guess I am a Covie and proud of it.... :) Westport House is a part of my childhood and teenage years - I now live in busy London Town but look forward to coming home to my family, friends, the reek, clew bay and beatra beach all iconic parts of Westport as is Westport House.... I shed lots of tears this morning to the amusement and surprise of my friends when I read NAMA and Westport House written in one sentence ... "Really"! Westport House must remain with the lovely Browne family who have contributed so much to our town.... I trust the people of Westport -,you never let your people / town down and you will make sure that a sentence with NAMA and Westport is never written again. I believe in you xxx Marie Xxxx

Must remain Irish, stay in the Browne family and continue to contribute to the economy of Westport through its tourism initiatives

It needs to stay within the family. The girls are doing a wonderful job.

The loss of the Browne Family from Westport House and estate is a direct attack on a vitally important part of the Irish nations heritage and concept of self. It is beyond important that the few remaining families of the great estates be preserved as much as the estates themselves

Glad someone seems to see sense and is helping to stave off a dreadful fire sale of a monumental piece of Mayo's history. Please have the sense to secure the land for the people of Ireland. The Browne family have done a wonderful job trying to save it

Westport house is an important part of everybody from Westports lives, and a special place for visitors. I moved to Westport from London because I love Westport so much and the house is a major part of my childhood, youth and adult life. It is unimaginable for Westport house to change hands from the Browns who are elemental in this town.

This is part of our history and heritage and must not be sold to the highest bidder. It has been in the Browne family over 400 years and I would like to think that it will still be in the family for the next 400 years. It will need all of us in Westport and Mayo to ensure its viability and success so that it remains part of our heritage for our children and our children's children

Westport House's sale would be catastrophic for the entire Clew Bay area...it's of huge economic importance to the tourism sector, creates hundreds of jobs locally, not to mention the life's work and dedication of the Brown family. Westport owes them a huge debt of gratitude and support.
