I've lived on St.Simons for 61 years. I understand why people come to live on SSI but why change it. I'm very opposed to making SSI a city or Incorporating it. I have 30 plus properties in the city of Brunswick and I see how it is run. I pay more taxes for being a CITY and get less. There is no way that you can make SSI a city or Incorporate it without Raising the Property Taxes and adding new FEES. Who pays for the NEW GOVERNMENT that will be in place. A VERY BAD IDEA.

Island residents have the right to vote on the place of their homes. Our Commission has not represented the island homeowners, just their agenda.

So, 7% of the "citizens" should dictate what the other 93% don't want? C4SSI/SI cannot accept the fact that those 93% have told their representatives WHAT they want.

Sickened by politicians who are seemingly being bought off, are in debt to, or have some back office deals with the greedy developers who are raping and ruining our island. Power to the people! Let residents decide their own fate.

Unlike the vast majority of people signing this petition, I am a SSI native. I am staunchly against incorporation. These guys tried a few years ago and it was shot down. If they did it then, than they may have done some good. Now most of the land is either built out or in conservation easements. It was a bad idea then, it is a worse idea now. Creating an expensive city to police a handful of small tracts of land is a waste of money. Higher taxes for residents and detrimental to the county as a whole.

I think it is appalling that our elected representatives will not give us the right to choose. That right is something many many people have fought for and died for. And for them to decide to deny us that is inexcusable. Not one of them will get my vote come next election. In fact I may actively campaign against him if we have any other candidates worthy of my vote.

we need to incorporate before the entire Island is destroyed with excessive building. St Simon's residents should make this decision.

As a life-long resident of St. Simons Island, and business owner, I feel that it is the right of those who reside on St. Simons to make the ultimate decision as to whether or not St. Simons is destined for incorporation, and not leave the decision to the state legislature.
