ARE OUR KIDS SAFE? Does having a right to choose a bad school site matter more than a student or citizens life, YES or NO?

No matter how the intersection is redesigned, the immediate area is not built to standards necessary to handle an increase in traffic of the magnitude a school / business will create. This is a common sense Safety issue

The impact of the site of this school will be very large in the community of Los Diamantes and vicinity
I'm concerned about traffic, noise and all the consequences that will bring
This is not a commercial area but a quiet neighborhood
The traffic on Shea Blvd is already heavy , can you imagine during opening and closing hours of the school operations?it will affect us greatly.

The decision to build a 1,200+ student school at this location is moronic and based purely on greed. A neighborhood with very narrow streets and confined by a water canal and the Indian reservation is far from ideal and, no doubt, will create very dangerous traffic situation for the local community as well as for the students of this school.

this is the prudent approach, this site is too small for a 1000 student campus. the project as designed needs to change or be withdrawn...charter schools do NOT get a pass with respect to zoning regulations..this is JUST WRONG..

Ridiculous that this location is even being considered.

Please do not create an even greater traffic safety problem along an already hazardous stretch of Shea Boulevard!

It is inconceivable to me how this project can even be considered. The neighborhood streets in this area of Scottsdale are very narrow and do include sidewalks. It will be a real danger to students to navigate in this area. The traffic congestion on Shea will be terrible. We love living in this area of Scottsdale, but we have observed the results of many high-speed traffic accidents over the years on Shea. When there is an accident, you can be assured it is at high-speeds and the danger and damage is significant. Adding the vehicle and pedestrian traffic to this already toxic situation is asking for trouble. I understand the plan is to add a light at 128th which may reduce risk but it will certainly not solve the congestion issues. I read in the paper some comments by an official comparing this school location to schools on Hayden and Greenway. Whoever made that comparison apparently has never driven on Shea. I use all three of those streets and it is not a worthy comparison. I urge the Council to consider the safety of those in this area and advise the school to find a more suitable location.

Basis is an excellent school and we will consider our children attending there in the future, however this is a terrible location.

The placement of this school is both morally wrong and dangerous to the surrounding citizens.Do not let this go through. They must find a different location.

Someone on the city council 's getting some serious kickback$$ from Basis... Perhaps an investigation is needed to see how this went thru the city channels so quickly & quietly?

I have a strong disapproval for the Basis school to be built on 128th St and Shea Blvd. It will be on Cochise Dr which is where I live and the traffic and safety will be horrendous. Both intersections of 124th and Shea and also 128th and Shea are already backed up and have several accidents weekly. The added cars and traffic in this area will only add to the danger of this area already. Please put the school somewhere else!!!

Please choose another site for this school. I am a supporter of charter schools as my three daughters go to Archway/Scottsdale Prep, but this site is a terrible location.

We live in a RESIDENTIAL neighborhood. There is an abundance of both vacant land and vacant commercial space (see former culinary school at 118th St) for BUSINESSES to locate in. Shea congestion at 124th with the high school is already dangerous which will force BASIS traffic onto the the residential side streets. This project is plain WRONG and dangerous for the neighborhood. BASIS should buy land from the Mayo Clinic.

Have lived in Los Diamantes for 10 years---small side streets here are already congested in mornings, with difficulty getting Wbound on Shea. This is a a very poorly planned idea!
