As an out of district student, I already have to leave early in the morning to get to my zero period. It's already difficult enough to park in the lot and get to school in time past the morning rush traffic on my way. Taking an extra 10 mins + walking time to get to school makes it harder for me to get to my zero on time. Pushing back the construction till summer would benefit so many out of district students.

As a resident of oak park - I believe kids should be able to park till end of school year - construction should not compromise student host safety

This is a safety hazard to the people who park on kanan and taking away our off campus passes are worst cause people will still leave

I think we should suspend the solar panels because I know those student drivers are terrible, I've seen them drive and cause many accidents and my kids are in district and should be allowed to park but those who are out of district should only be able to take buses

I've lived here long enough to remember when OPUSD was about the kids. It was a special jewel and why we all paid too much money to live within Oak Park's boundaries to gain admittance to the exceptional school district, which was head and shoulders above any nearby district. Let's get back to those values, before DOC's overcrowding of our school sites and the traffic it brought destroyed our town and made it just another place with bad traffic. Let's go back to before the superintendent and school board's egos started chasing award after award. Enough is enough. The quest for accolades has replaced concern for our children's education and well being and the quality of life we all thought we were getting when we moved to Oak Park. The superintendent's job isn't to go to classrooms to convince high schoolers to become vegan, or spend his days looking for ways to reduce OPUSD's carbon footprint, or teach elementary schoolers about the merits of organic gardening, or lobby lawmakers in support of a policy many local residents oppose. It is to educate our kids at the highest level. The best thing about this ill-timed solar project is that it is getting people to say publicly what they've all been saying privately for years.

Summer is the appropriate time for this project. Potential savings do not justify the risks to student safety and the disruption that moving forward with this ill advised plan would cause.

This would be rediculous to start construction during the year. Traffic will be a nightmare forcing hundreds of cars to park in the street which is hazardous.

Not only is leaving at lunch putting more student drivers on the road, but displacing 200 spaces in the lot will put 200 more cars driving up and down Kanan and the surrounding streets every morning looking for a parking space. In addition 200 more students will be bottle necking at the cross walks, slowing traffic in all directions on all access roads to the high school. This does not seem to be just a lunch time problem.
