It's simple supply and demand. As you take away the parking spaces the demand goes up.

Will someone step up to fight this or will we allow the district to disregard students and parents as usual?

This is bad timing for our kids to be parking so far at such heat. It will have negative impact on their academic results in class.

The district does not appear to be interested in addressing the concerns of parents or the community. Only legal action will delay this project. With all of the attorneys in our community, there must be someone willing to file an injunction to delay construction until an independent body can review the plans and evaluate the safety concerns regarding Kanan parallel parking. If the school and district are intent on moving forward with this project, at the very least, they should offer their campus parking spots to students and park on the street instead. This would help mitigate many of the safety and hardship issues , and demonstrate goodwill .

We all want and support progress but not the expense of our kids. The timing is wrong and this project at this time creates unsafe conditions, chaos, confusion and sends the wrong message to our school and this year's graduating class. Our kids, our families and our school deserve better.

Great idea but HORRIBLE timing. You'll have a bunch of inexperienced drivers scrambling to find close parking and then trying to parallel park. Combine that with the fact that even experienced drivers aren't paying attention to the road half the time anymore and it's a recipe for disaster. Money isn't always the most important issue!!

I am 100% against this happening during the school year. The mornings are already incredibly busy, forcing newish drivers to parallel park on Kanan is simply asking for trouble. Not to mention kids racing across the street in order to get to class on time... I'm utterly shocked that this is even considered a viable option.

I am very concerned about the safety of the students. They will be fighting for parking on a very busy street and no matter how it is monitored some students will jaywalk so they can get to class on time. There is also an increased potential for car accidents. I do not believe the monetary credit you will get from Edison out ways the safety of our kids. It is a matter of when something will happen not if and you will have a bigger problem to deal with. The work should be done over summer.

Safety issue... No reason it can't be done over the summer like all the school upgrades. Your Edison credit is not more important than the students saftey.

Honestly way to go Oak Park.. :/ C'mon like I understand that this will save ophs money but at what cost?? Students safety?? sleep schedule (which our school clearly thinks is so important despite the fact that they ruin it lmao)?? convenience for teachers as well as students?? it also affects opusd students that go to red oak, oak hills, brookeside, and medea. this is so obnoxious and something only oak park high would do...

Drop off and Pick up is already difficult. Can only imagine the chaos that displacing 200 parking spaces and forcing kids to parallel park on Kanan will create. Safety should be our first concern!

The idea of having kids park on Kanan with parents and students driving and dropping kids off is. Kind to cause a horrible accident, student being hit by a car....please put this off until school gets out!

Just tell the solar contractor to start at the end of the school year. Then tell the loan people we want the loan locked in at current rate. I am sure someone at our school district can handle that !!!!
