The crossing is too congested and dangerous

Have noticed it takes much longer to cross the road leading to more people crossing at once

Have personally known of 2 friends who have had very near misses with their children and cars at the crossing in front of Sainsburys. Road safety improvements would be hugely beneficial to the local community

Further to the comments above, improvements to pedestrian safety are particularly needed given the proximity of the crossings to Weir Road Industrial Estate. There is a significant amount of heavy goods traffic - skip lorries, cement mixers, and other large commercial vehicles - travelling to the industrial estate. These heavy, high-sided vehicles have longer stopping times and decrease visibility for other road users and pedestrians, making safe crossing points for children particularly important.

this is a very urgent petition before something bad happens. It is a really dangerous and unsafe crossing for our children. Please take action urgently. Many thanks.

My daughter attends Wimbledon Park Primary School. In light of the build up of parents and children (including very young children who need careful and constant supervision) waiting to cross Durnsford Road to and from school, there is an urgent need to return the timings for the existing traffic light sequence (corner of Durnsford and Ashen Grove to "school side" of Durnsford Road) to that which applied during the Spring and Summer terms.

I have had a number of experiences with not only cars not stopping but of motor cyclists driving on the wrong side of the road. My older son and I were nearly hit by motor cyclist, who was on the wrong side of the road, in front of Sainsbury's a couple of weeks ago. The traffic needs to be calmed down.

These crossings becoming a serious danger to the kids walking to school. Please start implementing changes soon and in the meantime revert the traffic light settings to the timings used prior to the summer hols.

The crossing across Durnsford Rd by Ashen Grove is extremely dangerous as delays in lights changing leads to huge numbers crossing the road at the same time.

Please adjust the timings of traffic lights and consider the zebra crossing outside Sainsbury's as with 3 small children I regularly feel extremely concerned about crossing the road.

they seem to have decreased the response time of the lights by the Mosque and increased the time for lights at Ashen Grove. The traffic flow along Durnsford road is worse than ever at the moment so it doesn't seem to have improved things for drivers anyway. As an additional comment the Council also really needs to enforce the double yellows on the corner of Havanna/Durnsford and Havanna/Wellington Roads which are so often parked on by vans dangerously restricting visibility for both drivers and pedestrians.

The Ashen Grove lights used to change quickly. Not only is it now dangerous due to overcrowding on the pavement at peak times and crossing between stationary traffic but even on off peak times it makes people more likely to cross with out the green man due to the long wait which is inherently risky. I can't see in whose benefit it is to slow the reaction time of the lights. As a resident here over the last 15 years I have never felt inconvenienced or 'held up' by the frequency of lights changing whilst driving. please change back to safer quick response.

I fully agree with all the comments listed above - some excellent points raised.

The traffic lights seem to take forever to change and I've seen a flood of people cross the road in between cars once they have changed. This is because there isn't enough space to cross safely. A zebra crossing outside of sainsburys is long overdue.

The lights at Ashen Grove should be changed back to be changed quicker as it used to be. The new "delay" is causing build up very quickly and makes it dangerous to wait to cross and as someone else pointed out, to cross safely since so many people crossing over at the same time (because of build up from waiting longer for lights to change) is making it hard to get across before the lights change again. I think also a zebra crossing by Sainsbury's is necessary. There are so many children crossing and I feel worried its dangerous for them.
