Safer Mobile Mardi Gras

The only parade/event we go to is Mystics of Children in Rosswood because it is safe, not crowded, no drunks, we can walk to it, it is a family/neighborhood parade. Alcohol is one the major problems with Mardi Gras and probably part of the throw problem as we think most of the maskers are under the influence; the metal flask that hit the little girl in the head contained alcohol. Alcohol is not necessary for a good time.

I don't go to the parades anymore because of these issues. Sometimes it feels like things are being thrown to actively injure.

We have stopped going to Madi Gras because of this very reason.

I want to be able to go to Mardi Gras while feeling safe for both me and my friends. As a college student, I can't guarantee my friends won't get hurt, so we leave town for our Mardi Gras break to have fun elsewhere, and I'd like that to change if the mandates change.

On 3/1/22 I was standing behind a child that got hit in the mouth by someone throwing beads extremely hard. He was standing in front right by the area where the float was coming down the street. He was behind the barrier.

Yes there should be restrictions on how are the folks who are riding the floats , because there are children are getting hurt

My family member was hit in the face by a box of moon pies on Monday. She still has a headache, bruising and swelling. Children were also hit by items

I literally don't go to Mardi Gras anymore because of this. It isn't worth another pair of broken glasses or bottles thrown at my face.

I am absolutely thrilled to see someone finally doing something about this. My 68 year old mom attended a parade last week and was left with two black eyes. These guys needs to quit being allowed to drink so much before they ride and need to face the consequences for their hatefulness. They are truly trying to hurt people and seem to enjoy it. I’m speaking directly to The Stripers organization and the MOT’s.

No boxes or bags of stuff, please. It’s unnecessary. Separate beads and throw one or two at a time. The golden rule. If you don’t want your child smacked in the head with a fist full of beads then don’t smack other people‘s kids in the head with fistfuls of beads

Here is the thing. You don't have to go to Mardi Gras. It's not some God given right to try and change something that is NOT yours. That's right. Mardi Gras is provided to YOU by the Mardi Gras organizations. It's not some City tax paying funded event. The members of these organizations spend upwards of a thousand bucks in throws so others can enjoy THEIR parade. Not your parade, Not the cities parade. THEIR PARADE. And here we have this prick Bryan Fuenmayor, who got his panties in a bind and wants to play "Mr Activist" for everyone. IF YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THE THROWS, THEN STAY HOME. YOU WILL NOT BE MISSED. But you are welcomed to enjoy what myself and others provide to the people of Mobile. And you Bryan Fuenmayo, Just stand in the back so you don't crumble like the snowflake that you are. Better yet, bring that rainbow umbrella that you have to protect yourself from those mean old float riders.

My glasses were knocked off by a throw. I was hit by so many throws on the head, I had a headache and sore head. I know one person who sustained a broken finger from a throw. This isn’t fun stuff.

I experienced a float on Fat Tuesday that were throwing beads still all tied together that was being thrown very forceful making me scared they could hit my 5 year old daughter. I am also upset about the horrible incident from the MOT parade where a 5 year old little girl was hit by a water bottle filled with alchohol causing 3 gashes to her head. It's horrible and not safe. These organizations need to prohibit floaters from drinking excessive and or showing signs of harm to self or others. If they cannot enforce the City needs to step in.

My daughter's are not a fan of Mardi Gras because if the way throws are hurled. They say they would rather just buy the stuff themselves.

I had to have a tooth fixed after it was chipped after being hit in the mouth with a wad of big beads.

Maybe we should all wear bicycle helmets and mouthpieces. How long have these parades been rolling through City Of mobile?
