We need a safer Columbia Rd with more space for bus, bikes, and people - not just space for cars.

I live in Petworth and frequently travel along Columbia Road for appointments, shopping, and dining in Lanier Heights and Adams Morgan, or for trips to Dupont Circle or Georgetown, almost always by bike. This is always the most stressful part of the ride and it doesn't have to be!

I live in Petworth and my drs office is off this stretch of Columbia road. I hate biking there (which is my standard mode if transportation) because Columbia Rd is so dangerous to bike on. I look forward to biking to admo more frequently and as my exclusive mode of getting there after this enhancement is completed.

Bus lanes and protected bike lanes will make Columbia an incredible street.

As a resident and mom to a young toddler, I'm thrilled about the improvements being made to Columbia Road. We have to cross Columbia at least 20 times per week to get our daughter to daycare, and it's frightening to think of the number of close calls we have had while making the two minute walk from our apartment to her school. Too many cars are going to quickly and not paying attention, illegally parked vehicles block crosswalk and stop sign visibility, and the massive width of the road makes it more likely that impatient drivers will swerve into oncoming traffic or into the bike lane to go around a car waiting for us to cross the street. My family uses buses multiple times per week and we are very excited to have more reliable service. Despite the closest bus stop to our house being removed, we know this will help the buses run on schedule.

We love this project, it will make our neighborhood safer, more convenient, and even more of an attraction for businesses. Our family lives just off Columbia Rd, we cross it multiple times a day on foot and frequently ride the bus.

These improvements would make getting to and spending time in the area (including the park and nearby businesses) easier, safer, and more enjoyable for me, and for my family.

I generally walk or ride my bike through this neighborhood because the traffic is so bad. I'd love a reliable bus route through here and more protection as a biker.

I live right off Columbia Rd, and bike, walk or take the bus on this corridor daily. I have also been hit by a car while biking on this segment of Columbia Rd. We need a safer Columbia Rd.

As a long time resident of Adams Morgan, regular L2/43/42 bus user, and bike commuter, I fully support DDOT's proposed redesign to improve safety along the Columbia Rd. corridor.

This project will help me and my family get around the city to see my father-in-law in Woodley Park, visit shops in Adams Morgan and Dupont, and generally get around the city better as we don't have a car.

I enthusiastically approve of plans for bus and bike-prioritized trasnit on Columbia Road. Living at 16th and Upshur, I would love to visit Adams Morgan via alternatives to car, but between the awful bike infrastructure and traffic on buses, I take my dollars elsewhere.

As a resident on Columbia Rd, I’m very much in favor of the proposed changes to Columbia Rd. As a regular rider of the 42/43 bus line, these routes are consistently stuck in traffic and service suffers as a result. This change will make my commute and general movement through the area significantly easier.
