Keep DC navigable by bike.

There are currently no all ages and abilities bike lanes in/through Adams Morgan. I currently avoid riding my bike in this area because I don’t feel comfortable. A protected bike lane on Columbia would likely be my primary route from Columbia Heights to Dupont Circle

Would love to feel safe biking on this part of Columbia Road again!

The bus routes on this section are so often delayed that I actively avoid using it. S2 used to be the same way, but the bus lanes have had an extreme improvement in the right direction. Replicating that success for this route only makes sense.

As a resident of Lanier Pl NW this project is essential.

As a Ward 1 resident (Columbia Heights/Park View) I support this project. I often take the 42/43 bus when I need to get to or from Dupont Circle. However, due to the congestion along this stretch it often feels like it could be faster just to walk! Also, my partner is an avid cyclist and typically avoids biking down Columbia Road even when it is the most direct route, so having the protected bike lane would be hugely helpful for him as well.

I take the bus and bike this corridor frequently and it always feels unsafe — a protected bike lane would save lives for bikers and pedestrians, plus make it easier for buses to get from stop to stop.

As a Ward 1 resident I strongly support the creation of dedicated bike and bus lanes along Columbia Road. At this point I no longer take the 42/43 because of how much this stretch of Columbia Rd slows it down and delays my commute, and a bus lane would help dramatically. I also bike regularly and this stretch feels very hazardous without protected lanes. Adding both would be a huge boon to the neighborhood and improve residents' safety and mobility.

As a resident of Lanier Heights and a regular cyclist, pedestrian, and bus rider along Columbia Road, I strongly support proposed safety improvements (particularly for the protected cycling lane).

As both a resident of Ward I and someone who uses the Columbia Rd NW corridor daily either as a pedestrian or on Metrobus, I want to emphasize my support for this project. In particular, I believe DC Government and DDOT have an urgent moral obligation to implement lifesaving safety improvements to Columbia Rd NW and other DC streets. The senseless death of Nina Larson and other DC pedestrians cannot be ignored. DDOT and the City should pursue this project and similar improvements with urgency and resolve rather than hesitating while dangerous drivers, unsafe transportation infrastructure, and status quo bias continue to kill.

I live in Lanier Heights and really want to see this project move forward! I take the bus and bike regularly to get from A to B and this would make a big difference to me both in convenience and safety.

I have lived in or near this neighborhood for 10 years. I often bike or walk or bus on Columbia, and I often feel unsafe due to vehicle traffic - or even just plain inconvenienced when it comes to taking the bus up or down Columbia. This is a common-sense plan that will make visiting restaurants and stores much easier and safer and will improve the neighborhood overall.

As a non-car-owning Columbia Heights resident who travels to Woodley Park regularly, I'm eager to see improvements in the bus and bike infrastructure on Columbia Road. There are so many transit-dependent residents of Ward 1, and we deserve better than the current conditions.

As a neighbor in Columbia Heights, I look forward to this project creating a safer and more pleasant public space, and improving my transportation options!

Columbia road has the potential of being a fantastic and vibrant part of the city but without bike lanes it will continue to be an unsafe parking lot.
