I am an elected ANC Commissioner in Adams Morgan and live two blocks from Columbia Road. I have spoken with hundreds of my constituents about this plan and many more support the project than oppose it. It is also the right thing to do for Adams Morgan. It will improve pedestrian safety, improve bus travel times, and make it more likely that people will walk, scoot, and ride bikes in the neighborhood - which is good for health and the environment. More than half of all households in Adams Morgan don't own an automobile and more than 70% of our residents don't use a car as their primary form of transportation for work. These numbers are even higher for our low-income residents. We also must honor the memory of Nina Larsen and do everything in our power to ensure that no more innocent pedestrians are killed on our streets. I support this plan and encourage others to as well.

I live nearby and am glad to see a project that will improve transportation safety along Columbia Rd. This corridor is packed with people walking and biking. It is the right thing to do to honor Nina Larson and the many others who have been killed (and also permanently injured/disabled) by drivers on this stretch of Columbia. I wish Mayor Bowser would stop blocking projects like this and actually get on board with Vision Zero and saving the lives of her constituents instead of pandering to her donors and their car-centric views.

I’m a Columbia heights resident and I support the project! It will make it far easier and safer for me to patronize businesses along Columbia Rd and in Adams Morgan. We need better bus and bike infrastructure now!

As a user of the bus routes that travel down this road and as a pedestrian without a car, I hope this proposed plan is implemented. It will make transit more accessible and useful for more people and the bike lanes will make foot traffic safer.

I am a Dupont circle resident who would visit Adams Morgan and Mount Pleasant much more frequently if I could take the bus and/or bike there safely and quickly, unlike now. This project will make that a reality. Please proceed to construction without delay!

As an Adams Morgan resident that travels in and around the neighborhood exclusively, on foot, bike, and bus, these improvements are critical for both myself and our neighbors.

The area under consideration includes intersections where drivers have nearly hit me when engaging in illegal traffic maneuvers (driving on wrong side of the road, U-turns in intersections, etc.) but more importantly it includes the intersection where a driver killed Nina Larson in November 2021. To my awareness the driver was never charged. DDOT must begin construction on this safe streets project as soon as possible, before another dangerous driver kills another neighbor.

I am scared every time I bike in the city and have two friends that have already been hit by cars. We need safer streets for bikers.

I live in Petworth and have friends in AdMo and other parts of the city. Columbia is a main thoroughfare I use to buy things in AdMo and Mt. Pleasant. However, every time I am on this road, I don't have the space I deserve, the protection is limited, and drivers are able to do unpredictable things. A new design will make this street more usable for EVERYONE

I live in Ward One and I bike through Adams Morgan regularly. I always bike to restaurants or bars there and would go there more if Columbia Road was safer. Make Adams Morgan a better place for people to live and travel to. We need to get people out of cars because it is always choked with traffic!
