Safer Columbia Rd

Please add a bus and bike lane. It will be way more beneficial than parking for a few cars

Please we need a bike lane!

I regularly bike from U Street to Mt Pleasant. This project will greatly improve this route and the connection between these neighborhoods. I am in full support.

I own an apartment in a co-op located on Columbia Road near Quarry. I take the nearby bus lanes often and they often get nearly gridlocked towards 16th street during week day rush hour. Aggressive drivers make it dangerous to cross from one side of Columbia to the other. I also bike in the neighborhood - typically traveling on Lanier because Columbia feels far less safe. I support the critically necessary safety improvements, which will make for a safer street.

I support the project but the bus lanes should also be protected.

As an Adams Morgan resident who has been hit by a car while biking on Columbia Rd, I fully support this plan.

The disconnected bike lanes along Columbia have been a major obstacle for my trips to work and church. There have been way too many close calls with motorists. We need this project.

I take the bus to and from work everyday on Columbia Rd and on the way back traffic is so congested. The bus only lane will make commuting faster. Adding protected bike lanes would also make it safer for all commuters. I strongly support this project.

I live in Columbia Heights, and commute through the Columbia Road corridor five days a week by bike from 16th to Adams Mill (and back again). The existing configuration, especially at rush hour, is unsafe for all users, unreliable by bus, and highly chaotic. I strongly support DDOT's proposed changes to improve bike and bus mobility in this corridor.

I strongly support this project to speed buses and improve safety on Columbia Rd.

As a Dupont Circle resident, this project would greatly improve my ability to get around without a car and continue to alleviate congestion when others do the same.

As a Columbia Heights resident who frequently bikes this route, I can personally attest to how needed this is. The section of road without a protected bike lane invites frequent car-bike encounters, which we know increases risk of serious injury or death for cyclists. Please, act to protect those of us who bike, and make the city more accessible.

Thanks Kevin Harrison and DDOT for continuing to push for this and other bike and transit improvement projects. I live on Columbia Road, I and all my neighbors walk and take transit everywhere, many of us including myself bike. This will produce outsized benefits to the community. More like this please

Driving to AdMo and sharking for parking is a terrible idea. Biking to AdMo has been and will continue to be a far better one.
