Open up the schools. The kids need a life, all the kids and especially those in need. I am sorry but the unions should not have the final say on this.

Educators should be in line for vaccines before food service workers. We have to start making education our top priority behind healthcare.

Absolutely we need to get our teachers vaccinated asap. We are going to have a large part of this generation fall between the cracks. I worry about the drop out rate.

Age 65 is not a 'magic' line that puts people at a higher risk; what about teachers that are in their early 60s? The risk increases as age increases.
I'm 60 and teach at San Jose State. I am scheduled to go back to the classroom in March. I WANT to go back to the classroom in March, and volunteered to do so, assuming that I would be vaccinated by then. Teachers in other counties and states are getting their vaccines now; not us here in Santa Clara County. Why not?
I don't understand the way that vaccines are being apportioned by age only - shouldn't it be by age and occupation? A healthy, retired 75-year-old who doesn't go anywhere besides the grocery store once a week has much less risk than a 50-year-old worker at that store. Aren't we smart enough to figure this out here in Silicon Valley?
