Our schools should have been open a long time ago. Our children deserve better from all of us. It is so disappointing to see how poorly California has managed this issue, and others related to this pandemic.

This petition is ambiguous. It says "elementary schools can safely reopen prior to vaccination of school staff or students" but later says "we can start by focusing a very small fraction of our weekly vaccinations on those K-5 schools that serve our hardest-hit families — and get dozens of schools open for thousands of their kids". It does not clearly specify requirements to reopen the schools. The requirements should include: making vaccines available to ALL school staff; improving ventilation systems; masks for all staff and students; and adequate social distancing. Anything short of that list is inadequate. Don't cut corners just to get the schools opened sooner.
