Safe Winter Roads for St. Paul

One whole side of a street in my neighborhood wasn't plowed a few weeks back because there were cars parked there. I called about a plow back and they never came back. Now we have even more snow and I can barely get down the street.

I hope everyone remembers this winter when the next mayoral election rolls around.

I would love to see better plowing on side streets, along with SALT!!!

The most dangerous parts of my commute are the residential streets in my own n'hood. No salt/sand/grit has landed me in the boulevard twice, hung up after a block-long spin out on a small hill. Several clips in my bumper are now broken. I've missed several days of work because I can't safely drive 4 blocks to Smith Ave or Annapolis. Meanwhile on the south side of Annapolis, Mendota's streets are clear and ice-free curb to curb...and their property taxes are lower. I'm all for nice parks with new playgrounds and pretty flowers hanging from lamposts all summer, but I'd prefer safety over fun and pretty for my tax dollars.

PLOW MORE OFTEN AND TICKET IDIOTS THAT DONT MOVE THEIR CARS

Street in the city of St Paul do not get plowed unless there is a snow emergency. Its delayed and street are not clean as well as they could be two cars can not travel down the streets at the same time on St Paul Streets. It not Safe and streets are not passable. EVERYONE should move their vehicle if the are not moved they should be towed this make it hard for people with disabilities and older adults.

We do need our streets plowed earlier than they are now. The snow gets compacted down then the plows just ride over the top of it.

I'm signing because I don't like having to fear for my life every time I get in a car this winter. These streets need to be plowed better.

Grew up in Duluth, they know how to do plowing. Please look into this issue as this year especially has made it apparent that the current plan does not work.

Saint Paul’s snow removal is by far the worst that I have ever witnessed of any place that I have lived. It is frankly dangerous and unacceptable therefore should be one of the highest monitory policies!

Should do a better job

I live on Milton and Aurora, and we have similar problems with safety issues regarding the lack of proper plowing.

Required to be at the office across town, streets and alleys are completely unsafe.

Other cities plow muptile time as snow falls so that it doesn’t get packed down and out of control. This would help so much. The city should also aggressively tow or ticket vehicles that don’t move.

The city is (eventually) plowing our residential street - the past 3 years they did not so this is an improvement. I do wish they would tow or have alternate side parking during snow emergencies so they could better clear the roads. Selby Ave has become quite dangerous to drive due to the build up of snow.

St Paul roads are the worst to drive on in the winter. For what we pay in taxes, the services we get are completly bogus.

Alleys and side streets in Saint Paul need better snow removal maintenance. As a taxpayer it's expected this service get done in a timely manner. I'm tired of seeing accidents and not being able to get to work on time because of road conditions

Snow removal should be a priority. I've had to pushed off my residential street several times in the past few weeks so I could get to work. I've gotten stuck in deep snow several times, returning home from work. Very frustrating that I could easily navigate the cleared toads of West St Paul but as soon as I crossed the boarder into the West Side, I couldn't be confident I was going to make it home. It's shameful. It's the practice of a one term Mayor!

PLEASE Melvin Carter - this needs to be a priority in the city! it is dangerous and costly to homeowners who already pay extremely high property taxes! We are better than this!

After getting stuck on my residential street for the third time in less than two weeks, I am signing this petition. Our lack of snow maintenance is absolutely embarrassing. Last week, I had friends over who live in Minneapolis, Mendota Heights, and Woodburry area. (We had to reschedule because on our original date, St. Paul's streets were undrivable. Go figure.) When the residents of other cities came to St. Paul, they were all shocked out our horribly maintained residential streets. I no longer go to work when it snows, and I've cancelled many plans to visit local businesses during and after snowstorms. This is a very real cost to the city. St. Paul claims to be "the most livable city in America" and yet their snow maintenance practices make the city completely unlivable in the winter. Something needs to be done by our elected officials, or we should kick them out of office.
