Safe Winter Roads for St. Paul

Surrounding cities have figured this out. St Paul can do it, too.

I agree that plowing needs to be done earlier and more often (and the city should clear sidewalks too, especially on major streets), but I'd suggest dropping the bit about taxes. Plowing more is going to cost more; let's hear from the city how much. If there's disagreement about spending on other things, that's a separate discussion.

I pay TAXES, you plow the streets. Saint Paul is not doing a very good job. If the city does it to save money why does the Mayor forgive Library Fines.

We have the worst snow plowing. People dont move cars and they dont get towed. What the heck! Its not like there isn't advance notice. Our streets don't get plowed until the night after it snows!

the city of st paul public works has over a hundred employees. the city has its own asphalt plant. And the plowing and furthermore the street patching in the summer is a complete disgrace! and why are the alleys not plowed!!! the city cant tell me they dont have 3/4 ton trucks with plows that could catch the alleys. trash didnt get picked up for 3 weeks! Where is the mayor? do we have one?

For the capital city to have the worst roads in the metro area every winter is outrageous! To use tax money for walk parks, and cutting down to 2 lanes for our safety yet leave our roads like this every winter is a joke!

Roads to get home (side streets) shouldn’t endanger lives!

Jessamine between Como amd Victoria seem like they are the last to get plowed and it can be 2 days after the snow but every year I pay more for street maintenance

I have a small car and struggle daily to get to work. The minute I get to St. Paul I start to slide. Also I am a teacher. Please, PLEASE make school bus routes a priority and keep them clear! Our kids safety should be a top concern, not an afterthought. Most of those routes are on residential streets that NEVER seem to get cleared.

I have never in 40 years of driving seen such inept efforts to clear snow from Saint Paul streets. I am outraged that our streets are not a priority after a snow event.

I have a little car and have a really hard time getting off my street until plows come through. When plows come through, the cars aren't moved, people aren't ticketed and plows just go around them creating a huge mess that doesn't get revisited. Makes it very hard to drop my daughter off at school and get to work on time due to getting stuck and needing to shovel myself out.

I have been trapped within my neighborhood multiple times due to snow this season. We've had to help push multiple cars out of our block. This is ridiculous. I've seen school buses get stuck or worse slip and slide all over the road. This is not okay.

I've been living in St. Paul for 3 years, and each year the plowing (or lack thereof) gets worse. Residential roads have been nearly impassable in a regular car on several occasions this winter. I've been stuck at three different intersections that were poorly plowed or not plowed at all 24 and 48 hours after a storm, forcing me to shovel out my car, which is dangerous and completely unacceptable. St. Paul, get your act together!

My undercarriage on my car has been completely destroyed this winter because you need at least 2 feet of clearance underneath your car to drive on St. Paul's, unplowed, terrible roads. Thanks to the geniuses at city hall that came up with this stellar plowing policy. Raises for all of you! *pats city on its back*

Even after they plow I wonder if the plow even dropped the blade

I have school buses that come up and down our street and my vehicle cannot be safely parked because the plowing is still 2 feet off the curb. I personally stood out there and shoveled for over an hour to clear adequate space to park. Not only that but the plows are leaving huge piles on the corners which means you have to be in the middle of the street to turn the corner which causes back ups in traffic as two cars cannot fit in that space at the same time. It is also a hazard for those of us who have to stand at these corners to wait for school and city buses. Come on St. Paul. You can do better than this.

I just moved into the Cathedral Hill area of Saint Paul this last year. Dealing with the lack of snow plowing and road condition nightmares that occur because of the lack of plowing, every time there is significant snowfall, is the main reason I am now looking for housing outside of the city of Saint Paul. There are literally three foot snowbanks in the middle of the street all over the Cathedral Hill area, 5 days after the snow storm has ended. Yet, when I go to Minneapolis 4 miles away, they seem to be able to figure out how to plow their streets just fine.

Snelling Ave exit and entrance merge lanes between Midway Pkwy and Pierce Butler never cleared properly. Does the city own an auger? Same thing every winter.

I have lived in St.paul for over 20 years The roads are horrible I have a home occupied business and have people come to St.Paul from all over the state. It is obscured the plowing and level of snow left on the roads. It is down right dangerous because many roads are so narrow that busses and emergency vehicles can’t get through. Tow the cars that don’t move! This is frustrating when we pay some of the highest taxes in the state Fix it!
