Safe Pedestrian/Cyclist Route for Highway 9

Let's keep eachother safe.

How many innocents have to b slaughters on these roads?

For obvious reasons. It's a tough place for a good bike lane free from traffic, but worth the expense.

I bike Hwy 9 as little as possible but for significant portions it is the only way to get from point A to point B. And those are some of the most dangerous sections with little to no shoulder and blind curves. A STOPGAO measure, perhaps the speed limit should be REDUCED AND ENFORCED to 20 mph for the portion between just south of Ben Lomond to Boulder Creek. Protect the vulnerable road users PLEASE.

I worked with you at Cabrillo a few times and will always remember you for your big smile and positive attitude. RIP Josh—I am glad to have met you :)

Signed in memory of a young man, Josh whos live was taken tragically & far too soon as he was just trying to get home after a day of working. Please make this area of highway SAFE for other pedestrians & bicyclists!! Don’t let another family lose a loved on so needlessly. RIP sweet Josh, dearest cousin of Kaylyn

It about time the children and other pedestrians could walk safely along HWY 9 and other dangerous stretches of rd. in the valley.

It is critical for the SLV community: this will keep kids safe and reduce extaneous traffic clogging highway 9.

So sorry to learn about the accident.

Pedestrian and bicycle safety issues have been brought up multiple times over the almost sixty years that I have lived in the SLV and it is so frustrating that so little has been accomplished. Alternate dedicated routes need to be developed, which could channel pedestrian and bicycle traffic on to safer and more pleasant travel options.

I was in the line of cars slowly passing the scene of the accident as the Paramedic frantically tried to resuscitate the young man. I will never forget the look of anguish on his face as he looked up at one of his co-workers, as if asking for help. I will never forget the face of the man who was being comforted by a young woman as he sat, leaning against the retaining wall. Presumably, he was the driver of the vehicle that struck Josh. Grief and confusion filled his eyes. We must take action to do what we can to prevent an event like this from happening again - for all concerned.

A safe, appropriately wide bike and pedestrian lane is absolutely needed for both north- and southbound Highway 9, particularly near busy intersections. I have often cycled between Felton-Ben Lomond-Boulder Creek, during non-peak traffic times.... still very challenging!

Josh Howard is my son. I sadly know nothing will bring him back but I do not want another family to loose someone, the loss is truly unimaginable. Please, we need to put pressure on Reginal Transportation Commission and Cal Trans to make HWY 9 safe for pedestrians, bicyclists and our community children. In honor of Josh Howard.

I got hit by a car last year and luckily I folded over the car and landed on my feet unscathed. It was still scary I hope nobody else will have to go through these types of experiences
