This petition has been created to help ensure the safety of the school children attending renaissance academy, as well as the overall convenience and tax dollar allocation of the public transportation system in Phoenixville. For example: After the bus was 45 minutes late arriving home on the first day and 20 mins late the next day, we called to complain and were informed there is a bus transfer for the Renaissance Kids from Phoenixville High School to another bus. This means that some Renaissance Academy children are on the bus for a full hour every morning, sitting in the back of the bus with kids much older and are then shuffled onto another bus between 7:10-7:30 to "wait" until that second bus departs for his school. This transfer is unsafe and confusing to a child and inconvenient for child/parent. We counted the # of children at our bus stop alone: out of 25 children, 17 go to Renaissance Academy. The bus was clearly over-crowded. If something happened to our child or they go mixed up on the 3 different buses to school, we would be notified by Renaissance Academy by 8:20am that he did not arrive for class. This means that no one would be able to account for what happened between 7am-8:20am between the multiple stops and bus transfer. This is major safety issue.
