I know Prof. Hans Thubo as a person of high integrity and high academic moral. He is a great scientist! We leave in 21st century, however the reasons of Prof. Thubo firing sounds like a non-sense.

I tried to sign this petition on the ground that I am a member of Academia Europaea and I happen to know a fair number of colleagues who have signed. I very much hope that my signature is now accepted

This is an outrageous attack on academic freedom and is the opposite of everything that universities should stand for.

I see no reason why any member of the University should not use his private e-mail in any official matter.
The University is not the Foreign Ministry of the US.

The reasons given for this dismissal seem bizarre. Many academics at my university use Gmail accounts to deal with work correspondence - it is hard to see why this is "reprehensible".

Hans Thybo is a geophysicist of the highest scientific eminence. I worked with him some years ago on the European Geotraverse and found him to be an excellent colleague, totally honest and straightforward. I am outraged that he should have been sacked on such flimsy evidence. What has become of scientific freedom?
