I cycle every day in Bristol, and am frustrated (and occasionally scared out of my wits) by the patchy and half-hearted cycle lane routes that force me to regularly join busy main roads or weave through pedestrians on the pavement (which neither of us want). Visiting Copenhagen, Oslo and Frankfurt, it's clear that they've done things far better by building a city-wide cycle lane network that really works. I fully support this effort to get Bristol to do the job properly!

I cycle, but have first hand knowledge around the reasons why people dont cycle in our city and it's purely down to safety, which is deeply upsetting since cycling has so many benefits to individuals and the city itself.

Things are slowly improving.... But please make sure new infrastructure is good enough to make children and the elderly cyclists feel safe too.

Not only do we want space, we also need maintenance of cycle routes/underpass routes - I live in Hartcliffe and have been asking for regular sweeping of glass (locals seem to find fun in smashing bottles everywhere) - it falls on deaf ears! for the last 4 weeks I have had to get off my bike and carry it due to the amount of glass under the Hartcliffe Roundabout!

I cycle every day in Bristol but it's too dangerous to allow my children to do the same, and that is very sad.

In recent years Bristol has welcomed the bike as a mode of transport like no other city in the country. That is good for the health of its citizens and for the health of the planet. Its time to reward them with safe routes.

In the past 12 months I have seen 2 cyclists lying in the road, one unconscious, the other in a puddle of blood on my short 2-mile cycle to work. I get shouted at weekly by pedestrians in shared cycle paths, and every week several times aggressive or careless driving puts me in danger. I can certainly not recommend cycling in Bristol, and I am surprised and angry when politicians claim to have improved cycle safety. In my area it has gone backwards in the past year, with new pavements jutting out into cycle paths, and road repairs leaving cycle paths in a more dangerous state. A road should be considered broken until it is safe for both cyclists and cars.

progress has been made but there are too many examples of cycle lanes that suddenly stop eg new lane in Baldwin St. I fully endorse this campaign.

I just broke my elbow cycling, better infrastructure would have prevented that

I have recently swapped my car for my bicycle for my commute to work, after being fed up with Bristol traffic. It is definitely the way forward, and more segregated cycle routes will encourage others to make the switch.

As a cyclist with children who cycle, I want Bristol to feel safe and welcoming to cyclists. The more cyclists we have, the cleaner the air, the safer the streets, the less congested and the fitter and happier we all are, it's win:win :)

I ride in from North Somerset to Brislington & it would be nice to have some high-quality stuff to use. Not the shared used or meandering stuff that gives way to every minor side road, but proper Dutch style (and I mean proper, not the stuff that gets called Dutch in this country).

As a cyclist I would love to have an even better experience in the city to improve on the great work that's already been achieved. Let's make Bristol the place the go for city cycling!

I cycle to work every day and would love to see the cycle paths made more viable and the shared paths clearly labelled.

Health, air pollution, climate change, congestion, productivity, safety, wellbeing - all improved by more cycling!

I cycle into central Bristol from North Somerset every day. Most of the route is on the Festival Way, but for those sections where I am in traffic, it feels extremely hostile and, at times, properly scary. Some of this is down to inconsiderate and aggressive drivers, but poor or non existent infrastructure is a major factor. Compared to recent progress in London, Bristol feels like it has gone backwards when it comes to investment in safe cycling routes. Even the good stuff like the Baldwin Street bike lane is compromised as it chucks you back into the traffic half way along.

It's great to cycle but not feeling safe from cars puts a lot of people off and stops parents from letting their children cycle to school, even after they have completed Bikeabilty training.
