We need a safe cycling infrastructure for the city

Bristol needs dedicated cycle paths separated from motor traffic. Safer cycling routes mean more cyclists and less congestion and pollution. It's a win win for everyone.

The more bikes there are on the road, the safer the roads will be for cyclists. And the safer the city will be for everyone.

It would be great if cycling could be seen as a normal day to day activity for as many people as possible

If cycling was invented tomorrow, it'd be seen as the solution to a lot of problems, free and green transport for all and healthy. Let's for more to encourage people to cycle regularly

I love cycling around Bristol, it's way better than taking buses or driving - but when I hit an END sign to the cycle lane, it's akin to waving a carrot on a stick. Bristol is great for cycling and the drivers are generally tolerant and friendly, but why can't we be more like Copenhagen?

There is still a huge amount of work to be done.

It's time that cyclists and pedestrians were given a chance instead of every development putting the car first as usual.

I cycle to work and school with primary school children, because ther is no alternative public transport or parking that works for us! However, it is a dangerous activity in Bristol. Please provide safe cycling for children too!

My partner was knocked off his bike by a car driver in December and is still on crutches. I have had countless near misses myself. Having cycled in Belgium and the Netherlands, it's easy to see how there's room for improvement in Bristol.

This is so important. it is so hard trying to cycle in a city full of cyclists but not actually that great facilities!

Cycling needs to be at the top of every transport planning agenda. No brainer.

I feel safer cycling during 'rush hour' as there are fewer parked cars to negotiate. What really freaks me out though is cars driving past me far too close and far too fast. I would like more segregation.

Dedicated, safe, sensible cycle centric cycle ways with cyclists input are important to encourage non road sense cyclist's to get on their bicycles and leave their car at home to reduce congestion in and around the city. Bristol is supposed to be the Green and Bike capital of the U.K. which is quite the polar opposite in terms of a congestion free society which reduces stress of everyday life. After living in Holland for a number of years a cultural shift needs to take place as we are sadly decades behind.

I want to feel safe on the road so I am encouraged to cycle rather than terrified.

Cycling is a crucial part of transport mix in Bristol, helping ease congestion, reduce air pollution and make people healthier and happier. Very happy to sign this petition. (Thom Oliver: Liberal Democrat candidate for Easton Ward)

I love riding out of Bristol on carefully chosen leisure routes - but riding across the city on less favoured routes is an entirely different matter. We need to connect the gaps if cycling is to become the default transport option day to day.

Bristol councils money spent on cycling was a joke. cycle lanes next o cars that just suddenly end. nationalise the buses and make them for people not shareholders.

I am a candidate for the elections in May. I am also a cyclist! I PROMISE to do all that I can to make cycling in Bristol MUCH safer and convenient.
