My family is the neighboring cattle ranch. If this goes in the property tax for us will go through the roof. There are many ranches who had a development of some sort put next to them. Afterwards the taxes were more than the ranch’s yearly income. Taxes are based off the lands “best and highest” use. We will also have a number of problems with people coming to the resort. Our animals and property will be put at risk. Making it incredibly difficult to stay in business.

The Ruby mountains our place of serenity and outdoor activities that do not hinder the quality of life or the beauty enjoyed by thousands in the area. The fact that hundreds of thousands of gallons of water would be wasted to manufactures snow and ultimately impact the entire area as a whole is unconscionable. The money won’t be put back into the community except by way of a handful of jobs but skyrocketing real estate, higher taxes, higher water prices, and the destruction of these lands for profit which will benefit the landowner who won’t even live in Elko County is more than likely. This is a really bad idea to develop a ski resort in or near the Rubies is a Really bad idea

Build it somewhere else in elko. I support the ski resort. But I don’t support ruining the mountains for said ski resort. Find somewhere else in Elko county’s thousands of acres to build it.

I was the Forest Service wildlife biologist for the Rubies for 15 years. This resort would be devastating to wildlife. Increased human presence will increase human-caused wildfires. I worked on the Snow Basin USFS ski permit wildlife monitoring before the Olympics and saw first hand how wildlife were driven from the area after new lifts and runs were developed. The Rubies are too ecologically important to develop.
