The sports capital of texas needs a proper venue for swimmers to compete. We are having to go out of town too many times because this city does not have adequate facilities to host large scale swim meets.

We have almost 1,000 swimmers that compete in the RoundRock/Cedar Park area. This would enable us to help our kids and our community.

The Meet curriculum for a high school meet included diving events. It is preposterous that a district as large as Round Rock does not have a single facility that can support the entire meet format. Additionally, while this may not be completely relevant to High School swimming, it is relevant to making a significant return upon the investment, there are over 9000 USA swimmers in the South Texas Region. The lack of facilities is causing the BB Championship meet to be held outside at the Micki Krebsbach Pool the weekend of Jan. 31st. The need and demand in our area is so great that children from age 6 to 18 will have to swim a championship outside in uncertain conditions. These are our kids, Round Rock, the same kids who you are upgrading the schools and technology for, give them the facility they need to excel in this rapidly growing sport.

A natatorium would not only benefit the swimmers in this district, but it could generate extra revenue for the city of RR as well. It is a much-needed facility for this community and would show its worth from day one.

A few reasons why this is a really good idea. 1) Drowning is one of the leading causes of death of children in the United States. This would help with providing educational programs to reduce the number of our children from becoming part of that national statistic. 2) Unlike the multi-millions spent on many football stadiums that sit empty for many months each year, a Natatorium can be used year-round to serve the community. 3) Instead of having to drive to Killeen, Belton, Burnett or San Antonio to find a Natatorium for our High School and USA club teams to swim at, the revenue brought in from teams and their parents would be kept in and brought to Round Rock. 4) This would begin the long overdue catch-up process with the previously mentioned school districts.
