Folks... in the last RRISD bond election, there were less than 13,000 votes cast. We should be able to muster enough votes to get this done. We need to get active in order for this to become a reality!!!!!

Swimming is a big part of our community, with many swim teams in the area. The teams feed in to the RRISD schools.

We have a lot of swim meets and it's time to be indoors so that none of the meets will be canceled.

Way overdue. Austin has logn been over dependent on the Jamail swim center for local meets. RRISD can show their leadership and support for the swimming community by supporting a district natatorium. RRISD teams succeed in-spite of the handicap of practicing in less than competitive facilities. ,

There is so much room for growth that comes with this facility! We could finally have diving in Round Rock! I know we have young swimmer who also do gymnastics who would love to have such an opportunity! We just have to spread the word and let everyone know how valuable this opportunity is. Swimming is a lifelong sport, and we could have everything from beginner lessons to High School States, USA Swimming and Masters swimming right here. Cross training is so highly encouraged, even other sports within our schools could use this facility for training. The possibilities are endless.

How can the District ask us to support any funding for athletic stuff when every other sport at least has some type of facilities, ie. football fields at schools, track fields, baseball fields, basketball courts, etc. The only UIL sport that is not support by the District is swimming and diving as they have not provide a facility for the schools to utilize. A natatorium that can accommodate both swimming and diving is way overdue.

registered voter in Williamson County. We have 5 highschools with successful swim and dive teams and no adequate facility. Many of these teams practice outdoors and all must travel to compete. An aquatic center with seating and diving well could be used to host meets and bring dollars into RR. The faciity would also provide a place to practice swim, dive, water polo and synchro swim. It could be used by the community as well since there is no similar facility in the area.

Just some really quick numbers... 1 meet per month with 300 swimmers would generate about $200K in extra income from fees and concessions. Another $340K per year in revenues for Hotels and Restaurants from 25% of these swimmers coming from outside the area. I think we could do more than this if we have the right facilities.

Harrison makes an outstanding point right here. Micki Krebsbach is the only facility in RRISD capable of hosting a high school meet and the facilities on the premises are terrible. We have made numerous pleas to the city to upgrade them, there was even money available when the proposed field house fell through, but we have been refused at every instance. The RR invitational meet hosted more teams this year than ever before and the ladies room has two stalls. There is not adequate room for changing, there are no heaters for year round swimmers. And the BB championship meet will face the same lack of adequate facilities.
