RPI Allow Rush and Recruitment!

This is a total meat axe approach that punishes an entire segment of the population due to unacceptable behavior of some of that segment. I think this is very unAmerican and unjust and it does not seem as an approach that will actually solve any problems. As I reflect back on my life and career, I don't think I would have known how to take the right steps to have a successful professional life and personal life without the guidance and support I received from my fraternity. I cannot be a supporter of an administration that acts in such an unethical way.

Let them rush!

Shirley is the worst dictator to ever be in charge of any organization. She does not care about the students or their experience all she cares is that she gets paid as much as the presidents of schools with 60,000 students even though she is driving RPI into bankruptcy. She threatens invalidation of degrees but every move she makes moves RPI closer to not meeting any accreditation.

Fall rush is essential to Greek life. It's appalling that RPI would even consider doing this. Find a better solution!

As a alumni of Theta Chi and my son who just this past week recieved the Rensselear Medal Award and scholarship, the loss of greek life at RPI brings me great pause in considering RPI for my son. Greek life while I was there was the sole reason for continuing with RPI while there. Although things have changed much since I’ve left, I can’t imagine any of my children attending an institution without a greek presence. My oldest daughter is attending Trinity and her brightest thoughts about her time there are her greek friends. Do not cave to uninformed and unexperienced outside pressures to minimize greek life and freedome at RPI.

Greek life is all there is to keep RPi students from jumping off the nearest bridge

Greek life was the only thing that made RPI bearable

As an alumnus of They Chi and the Greek Community at RPI, I speak from experience when I say that my time as a part of this diverse ecosystem of students, student athletes and highly motivated all-round individuals has helped me reap innumerable benefits in the real world and in my career. I strongly believe that incoming students at RPI should have the same opportunity be a part of this, and to learn the many invaluable lessons that can only be gained through involvement in such an atmosphere. Equally, the friendships forged are ones that I am confident will last a lifetime, and as someone who moved abroad after graduation, I can honestly say that my brothers from They Chi remain as big a part of my life as they were when I was still at college. These are once in a lifetime experiences that should not be denied to future RPI students, especially given it's significant part in RPI's history since it's introduction in 1831.

Although not directly a part of RPI Greek Life myself, I have formed many great relationships with people in Greek Life and can 100% say that I would have been miserable without it. I can only hope for current and future students, that RPI reconsiders this decision.

Greek life was meant to help young people lead, organize, and take responsavility, don’t just get rid of a problem because of the Rpi administrations lack of leadership and education

There are so many successful people that I had the pleasure of going to school with at RPI and every one of them was involved in Greek life. To-add, the parallels between the ladder of Greek life and ladder of corporate and entrepreneur life exists and, in my opinion, is complimentary to the Rensselaer educational experience.

Fraternities build character and life skills that young men need to be successful in society.

Greek life was an important part of my RPI experience. It helped shape me during my college years and beyond. Let fall rush continue. Theta Chi '86.

Without Greek Life I would have transferred out of RPI. It is the only thing keeping many students there through the depressing weather and academic stress, even those not directly involved benefit from the social events that fraternities provide.

If I had any questions about whether or not to allow my daughter to attend RPI, this just settled it. Count on one less freshman legacy. BTW, I must've missed the class where they explained how alienating 30% of your past customers is a smart business move. Oh, and when you've eliminated the Greeks and discover that there's still bad behavior in the dorms, what will you do then? Stop recruiting students? No one's excusing bad behavior, but blaming the Greek system is...misguided.

I agree with the no alcohol policy, but recruitment must be allowed to go forward in the Fall semester
