Greek life has been a huge part of the RPI community and culture. If you deprive them of fall rush this will only hurt the campus and the school. Once RPI changes fall rush they will move to change more. You will be hurting your alumni relations.

RPI Greek Life gave me friends of a lifetime and has prepared me to enter the whole with more understanding and acceptance for those in this world. I have been taught how to be professional, how to be a mentor and how to contribute to a greater whole. The problems and issues that RPI has witnessed over the years are not representative of Greek Life as a whole. These should be seen as the bad judgment of a few. Many of the houses on RPI's campus have helped to revitalize parts of Troy and the surround community. Through efforts of mentorship and philanthropy, Greek Life has been a positive force throughout the community both internally and externally. Please do not let the actions of a few dictate the fate of this long-standing and beautiful tradition of positivity and success.

How can this "Task Force" effectively review Greek Life if the houses are not allowed to rush? If you are actually trying to assess a situation then the Task Force should want to be able to witness a Fall rush. Otherwise, at least have the decency to call this what it is: a charade.

Greek life is a powerful tool at rpi for both social experiences and for safety during those experiences. Suspending all recruitment will negatively impact ALL fraterneties and sororities in ways yet unforeseen. I think the task force is a good idea but bringing Greek life down so the task force can investigate is a horrible decision.

The only reason I didn't transfer out of RPI was because of my fraternity. Greek Life promotes strong lifelong relationships and it seems that RPI would rather carpet bomb Greek Life instead of take a look at its own Title IX processes and handling of alcohol violations. Rape and drinking are not problems exclusive to fraternities, and removing fraternities is treating a symptom, not curing the disease.

RPI administration is choosing greek life to scapegoat for issues that their policies poorly handle. It is just another way in which administration is limiting the free speech of students.

This is an outrage, stopping Greek Life from rush even for just the fall semester will crush some chapters financially and hurt the greek community even further, not fix any current issues

Banning rush will severely impact local businesses including Troy Shirt Co. which is a small rpi alum let business that produces several thousand t-shirts annually using rpi students as employees. This would have a severe impact on the local economy and many other restaurants and venues would also face similar impacts.

Greek houses rely on healthy replacement rates of outgoing members, and depriving them of an entire semester of recruitment may set many houses back more than they can easily recover from.

Not allowing fraternities and sororities to rush and recruit is in violation of the first amendment and our right to freedom of association.
