As a proud alumni of the RPI Greek community, I am not sure which is more absurd. The proposal itself or how it is being handled. It is a shame that the administration doesn't see that Greek Life is in the very fabric of what RPI is and should be. While well planned positive change is always needed, this change would definitely not be positive and would have long term effects on the overall RPI community as alienating roughly 1/3 of your customer base usually doesn't end up well.

One of the reasons I came to RPI was the good social life (it’s all relative) coupled with the scholastic excellence. I don’t think they will have a good time recruiting girls if there is nothing fun to do on campus...

Greek Life changed my life, it made me the leader I am today. It is much more then parties esp. for women at RPI where it is so impt. for girls to find sisterhood!!

Sororities need fall rush to survive. Do not ban fall rush. My continued donations as an RPI alumna are dependent on maintaining a vibrant Greek life and the sorority for which I am a founding member.

I feel that Greek life has always been an easy target. If Greek life is banned, it is not going to even come close to solving the problems of alcohol and drug abuse. Please.

Being in a sorority gave me the support to get through the academic challenges and the being a woman in a male dominated school. It was a large contributor to my happiness while at school and is one of the main reasons I look back fondly at my time at RPI and I continue to give back.

Sigma Chi has been a wonderful supportive environment for my son. With the intense workload, dated student services and cold depressing weather at RPI, my son would likely have transferred from RPI were it not for his Sigma Chi brothers. Penalizing good fraternities becaise of the actions of a couple or national headlines is inappropriate.

Greek life has so much to offer at RPI. Without it, the school will suffer terribly and so will the students. My sorority is the only connection I have left to RPI - the only reason I visit and the only reason I would ever donate to the school.

Greek life is integral to the student experience of many, and not becasue of the implication of drinking. Every college student drinks. Greek life is not about that. It's about being in an organization with shared values, and I'm upset that that is being overlooked.

SAE ‘96. I loved my time at RPI and a very huge part of that was my Fraternity and being a part of Greek life. The lasting friendships I made there, the values I learned, and the experiences I had have made me the person I am today. This full-on assault on student and Greek life by the current administration has been going on for quite some time and it needs to end. Enough.

We should know by now holding individuals accountable makes us all better, and mass punishment doesn't work. Greek life at RPI was a positive driving factor in my undergraduate experience and depriving students of having an opportunity for a rich environment of family and mentorship would be unfortunate.

Greek life although not for everyone, is an important part of campus life at RPI. As a member of a sorority, it allowed for fostering of relationships that grew to long lasting friendships and not just for me but for many. The experiences and bond in a Greek house give students an instant family away from home, a support group, study group and so many other things. To ban greek life due to a few bad apples and incidences is terribly naive and shows poor resolution skills on the part of the university. Don’t punish all for a minority. Fix the problem at hand (hazing/alcohol). It may take more time and understanding, but to deny students the option of such a wonderful experience of Greek life is absurd.
