Harpenden Colts provide a vital role in our community allowing young people to not only stay healthy but also learn about teamwork. They need a local all -weather facility to avoid the numerous cancellations due to bad weather and to stop them having to travel so far afield to train.

The demand for this type of training facility is great and currently there is just not enough supply as we seek to encourage our youngsters to get up off the sofa and get active. I am a big supporter of this project.

I fully support the provision on an all weather pitch. It will enable children an young people to train all year in Harpenden. Currently, they have to travel large distances to train in Luton and other places. It would be a fantastic resource for Harpenden for children and youth at school and in clubs such as Colts and will promote a greater number of participants in sport both at school and after school.

Harpenden is the only town that does not provide these facilities to the young footballing community which is supported primarily on a voluntary basis, it encourages competitive sport participation, and team relationships for the next generation, it also forms a huge part of the community and events enjoyed by so many local children. It's a huge part of their life and Harpenden has a responsibility to provide the facilities for now and the future.
