Supported wholeheartedly - new facilities are needed and can only encourage the children

The provision of these new facilities would make a difference to my daughter and other children in Harpenden, due to the current lack of facilities.

I grew up in St Albans and had the benefit of all weather pitches. What a shame that youth in players in Harpenden are denied the opportunities that playing sport in the right faculties brings.

My daughter has just taken up football, but we have struggled to get her into a team because there are simply not enough training facilities in Harpenden. The current facilities are fully utilised and only by shifting squads around has it been possible. For the next age group of girls that wants to start playing football, this option will be closed to them. This proposed pitch will make an enormous difference and allow those who want to play the chance.

I play for colts (u10s). I don't want to have to travel all the way to other artificial pitches in other towns. Harpenden should have its own.

I play for colts (under 8s) and really want to be able to train in Harpenden in future instead of having to travel all the way to other pitches in other towns.

My daughter plays for the Cokts development team and this facility would be a great addition for the club and the wider Harpenden community.

We have needed this type of facility for years to promote the health and well being of our schools and community. SADC do the right thing!

This is a must facility not only for the school but the wider community. Not only will this offer a sporting facility to many, giving further opportunities to those currently actively playing sport and to more not currently taking part, but from an environmental perspective there will huge reduction of journies from those currently, and in future, travelling to the likes of Hatfield, Luton and St Albans.

As a local resident who has had 2 sons go through Colts and RPS and knows the frustrations of the lack of facilities, I wholeheartedly endorse the application as a welcome addition to the much needed facilities for young people in Harpenden.

I have no hesitation in signing this petition because I managed a youth football team for 10 years and having an artificial pitch to p-lay on would have been marvellous. It is always sad when a grass pitch is lost but in todays world of rising costs and use this is the way forward as many schools in London and greater London would contest to. The trick is to make it multiple use = tennis, football, hockey and cricket.
