HELP US TO PROVIDE A FULL SIZE, ALL WEATHER PITCH FOR ROUNDWOOD PARK SCHOOL, HARPENDEN COLTS FC, AND THE HARPENDEN COMMUNITY.
St Albans district council will soon consider a revised planning application by Roundwood Park School for a full size, state of the art, artificial grass pitch. The artificial pitch will replace an existing grass pitch on the school site which becomes waterlogged and unusable for large periods of the winter. The school's original application was refused in June 2016 on one ground only - opening hours. The facility, which was originally due to close at 10pm, will now close at 9.30pm.
Under the original proposal, Colts would have had access to the pitch from 5.30pm to 9pm and the 9 to 10pm slot would have been a commercial hire. The club will now have exclusive access to the pitch from 5.30 to 9.30pm.
The club's current training facilities are expensive, geographically dispersed and vulnerable - as was demonstrated by the recent and sudden closure of the Venue 360 training facilities in Luton. The new 3G pitch would provide a long term, local, cost effective, secure, training facility for our Club, enabling it not just to sustain its current members' involvement in the sport but to expand the Club to meet the demands of Harpenden's rapidly growing youth population.

This facility is desperately needed for the school and the community. The saving in pollution from the long car journeys, congestion on the roads out of Harpenden and time for the parents and children of Harpenden will be enormous. I urge you to support this desperately needed facility.
The town is crying out for state of the art sport facilities. Last winter highlighted this need as our kids played on poor quality pitches with many matches and training sessions being cancelled.
My son plays for harpenden colts fc and as his father who was born and schooled in harpenden I would embrace the need for a quality all weather football surface. Please give and the local boys of harpenden the oppprtuinty that I never had as a youth.
Please please pass the application. I am sick of having to drive to Luton every week to coach our colty team. There really should be facilities in our town. 800 boys/girls really deserve better than the town are currently providing for them.
Please allow this facility. Harpenden provides great youth sporting facilities for Rugby and Cricket, but has very poor provision for youth football. This seems the most sensible location as will benefit both the school and Harpenden Colts (Youth) Football Club.
A critical investment for Harpenden, which is woefully short of sports facilities.

We need this facility to help our youngsters to stay fit and healthy. With the huge numbers of children in Harpenden wanting to play sports competitively year-round, a provision of this kind is no longer a luxury but a necessity. It would be a huge benefit to our children and to health and fitness levels in our community.
