During the Fall 2009 semester, Development Sociology Professor Ron Mize was unjustly denied his recommendation for tenure. We would like to raise awareness for this event and to ask the Department, as well as the University, to adequately review his credentials.

Professor Mize is not only instrumental to the Department of Development Sociology but has also served the Latino Studies Program and American Studies. Professor Mize is fully committed to raising the level of academic curiosity not only through his courses and research but also through his active engagement with student organizations.

As members of the Cornell community, we must actively seek to uphold the University's commitment to recruit and retain academically diverse faculty. Granting Professor Mize a fair and adequate review is not just to the benefit of his Department, but to the University as a whole, given his commitment to students, his colleagues, and the academic atmosphere at Cornell.

Therefore, we ask that the student body assist with helping Professor Mize through the first stage of seeking tenure at Cornell.  Below is a link to Professor Mize's CV and Academic Profile.  Please consider making a difference for the current student body as well as for future generations of Cornell students.

Thank you.
