I am 77 and a Yankees fan since the 60s and I idolized Mantle. When I was about ten, a major league all star team came to Syracuse to play the Syracuse Chiefs in an exhibition game. After the game they had us kids line up in the stands and the players would give autographs. Mantle never showed up and I was disappointed but Rocky Colavito gave me his autograph. He was a premiere power hitter for Cleveland and Detroit and deserves to be in the Hall

Colavito was my brother’s favorite player. I think his numbers speak for themselves. I thought he was already in the HOF! How have they overlooked him!

He belongs in Cooperstown. His offensive stats a defensive ability are better than many contempories. Looking back, the only reason I can think of is that most of teams he was on were average or below average. He rarely if ever had the chance to shine in the post season.
