the nearest ice hockey rink is about an hour away. This would bring more revenue to the town, give kids something healthy to do, and create more jobs running the rink

Very true Tanner. I feel like Texas as a whole is not giving kids enough of a chance to learn all the sports that are out there. Especially when we have the professional teams here in Dallas. Enough of just restricting our kids to just baseball and football. Time for Texas to be recognized as an all around sport state.

An option other than DPSC would be beneficial to our community. They are taking over and creating a monopoly on fees.

I live between Greenville and Campbell and drive a minimum of 65 miles to the closest rink and play up to three times a week we need this rink.

I live nearby in Lavon and travel to McKinney, Allen, Frisco, and Plano several time a week for hockey. Having a rink in Rockwall would be a great alternative for those of us in the eastern part of the metroplex and could bring a large amount of money into the city.

My daughter was on the Dallas Figure Skating team a few years ago and was amazing at it. Unfortunately due to the fact that we had to travel to Dallas and Frisco 3-4 times a week for practice it just started to really take a toll on her and me. She ended up quitting even though her coaches had high hopes for her to go far as a figure skater. She still loves to skate, but we just don't get to the rink much anymore. The closest one is in Allen. Some of them have closed down and the Galleria rink is to small to really skate on. I just wonder how far my daughter could have gone if the rink had been in our town.

They is a chance that you could foster some amazing talent out of this facility. A great example is a Rockwall Resident named Colton Hargrove who just signed with the Boston Bruins a few weeks ago. Just imgiane how many more hockey players, figure skaters, speed skaters, etc. could come from a facility like this.
