Rocklin youth sports organizations have used Public Announcement Systems ("PAS") for Special Events, such as Opening Day, Closing Ceremonies and Tournaments.  Incrementally, some League's have instituted special events like a Game Of The Week, providing an environment where kids feel special and have participated in an event they will not forget.

Recently, the City of Rocklin has advised Rocklin Little League they can no longer use Music or Public Announcements during their scheduled Friday Night Game of the Week.  Before such games begin, the players and coaches for each team are announced and run out to the field to shake hands.  Next, players, coaches and spectators honor the US Flag during the playing of the National Anthem.  Then the game begins -- the kids just love it!  Music and additional announcements continue between innings until the game ends.  Total time is 2.5-3 hours per Friday Night, over a 16-18 week period.

The City of Rocklin has stated there is an environmental impact by allowing such music and public announcements to take place at our local parks.  Protecting the environment is important, but consistency in enforcing local policy is more important.  Exceptions are granted for large events, such as July 4th Festivities (e.g. loud music, large crowds, increased vehicular traffic, commercial fireworks).  Therefore, exceptions for local youth sports organization to play music and have public announcements should be granted as well.

While the Rocklin Little League example provided above is specific to that organization, other Rocklin youth sports organizations remain at risk of losing such privileges in the future.

By supporting this petition, your submitting support for the use of PAS at local parks and/or sporting complexes, when the responsible local sports organization has provided a schedule of events to the City of Rocklin proactively.
