Why would anyone think it is a good idea to take valuable protective information away from the generaL public?

I understand this move to encryption is for officer safety, however, it only fuels more distrust towards the police department. The department needs to be more open and transparent about the "going on" in our communities.

I think the heads at the police dept do not want us to know what is really going on. They should Inact a delay and not block us from knowing what is going on in our community!! A delay would address their concerns and still allow us our right to know!

Please keep this service open as it is very informative and used as a safety measure by many. We deserve to know what is happening in our community...

I think the community deserves to know what is happening around them. Rockford Scanner has been a great source to keep everyone informed.

Why? The police need to be more open, it's like they are trying to hide something

The scanner should definitely be left open with how bad our streets have gotten we need to be informed and aware of crimes going on as well as there location so we the people can avoid the area giving police the space needed to do the their job of protecting our citizens
