Please allow us citizens to continue to read and see what exactly is going on in our City. When our safety is in jeopardy, I feel we as citizens have the right to be informed of area crimes immediately!

We should keep the radios alive because for people like myself I would like to know what is going on in my town I can't afford cable and I have a old tv this isn't fair!!!

I live in Rockford and am my mother's caretaker, so this directly affects us adversely. This does not make us, or the public, safer. People are not listening to scanners nearly as much as they are looking at Rockford Scanner, Facebook, or other instantaneous methods of seeing and keeping up to date on what's happening around them. This is a ridiculous thing to do, especially for a chief who marketed himself as a 'more transparent' chief.

There is too much going on around the country to close the door with the public

We have the right to know what is happening in our neighborhoods as it is happening or as soon as possible. Not days later.

If we know what's going on it helps keep us safe and avoid areas where the police are working , So it is better to keep us informed and we are less likely to think that RPD is trying to be sneaky. They already have an encrypted channel for emergencies

I think as long as there are time frames of when serious stuff is posted I feel we deserve to hear it. My family has always had or listened to a local police scanner.

I think it's our right to know what is going on in our neighborhood and where we live/work

I like to be informed as to what is going on in the town I live in. I know you already have an encrypted channel if you have concerns about officer safety or privacy. I appreciate knowing more about what goes on around town than just what I hear on the news. If you want involved citizens you have to expect to inform them. Please reconsider taking all scanner traffic away.

How will we know what's going on in the Rockford area...???

This is ridiculous. Some people listen just to keep a watch on their neighborhood and family. This should not be kept from the public.

Time to buy a gun. Not going to have any advance notice of danger in the area. Don't dictatorships control information relayed to the people?
