We have the right to know about the crime in our city! Not live in the dark and have the police choose what we hear and what we don't so they can tell everyone the city is getting better. Who's going to know the difference because we cant hear the scanner ourselves anyways so we are F***** but what's new Rockford HAS been CORRUPT!!

For the safety of our community, to withhold information is deceptive, at best. Pretending the city is much safer and stable than it is . . . if it weren't for the information via the scanners, 1,000's of Northern Illinois people would be ignorant of the danger and crime. Is that what the agenda is?

Guess they hide enough information already without this happening.

I think we should be able to listen too the crime as it happens and know when and what is going on especially in cases where I've heard the school where my kids go come into a lock down . But never was informed off it until after school hours

There is crime and always will be crime in Rockford! There is no hiding it! We listen to our scanner to be informed.

they say that its for officer safety...but there has not been any complaints in the past that a scanner listener caused any problems for any officers or hindered any investigations. the real issue here is the huge crime problem in Rockford and the Mayor. the mayor and the new chief would like for it to appear that crime in Rockford has gone down....the local news outlets wont even be able to accurately report on crime any longer.

We should be able to hear incidents and I feel people will be more safe if they DO NOT take away the scanners.

As citizens we deserve to know what is going on in the place we call home. Spend all of this money on something more logical like more officers on the streets!!!!

It should be open so we can know where to avoid and traffic delays that we don't get anywhere else.

This is counter productive to community involvement in reducing crime in our neighborhoods.

This is counter productive to asking for community's help to combat crime.
