How are we as citizens of Rockford gonna know what's going on in our city if they take the scanner away ?The police sitting around worried about the scanner whats on internet or tv or the radio that their not out here fighting any crimes or helping anybody in need. They need to keep the scanner

Do not encrypte the last two channels. Taxpayers deserve a heads up when a crime is happening near them or near their projected destination.

Please do not do this. Rockford Scanner is where I go to right away. This past week, my son came home and asked why there were police cars in the area. I went to Rockfod Scanner and saw that a Tahoe crashed on 20th and Sandy Hollow and you had guns drawn on one and the other ran. Come to find out, you found the other suspect 5 houses down from me in the park. I made sure I had all doors and windows locks and lights on during the ordeal. If it want for the site, I wouldn't of known this and the suspect could've even broken into my on home! I notified neighbors right away when I found out the suspect was on the run!

Citizens should be able to listen to the scanners, also the media should be able to listen, in order to keep the public informed of what is going on and what areas to avoid.

I use the scanner to listen to accidents and pull overs when I know my son is leaving work until he gets home safe. Just eases a mother's mind. I don't like this idea one bit.

As individuals in the community it is nice being informed of the crime in our town as a whole. It makes us more aware of life's real situations.

Ive never seen a dope dealer or any criminal use scanners especialy in rockford they too busy making thier money to even worry about the police ive seen rockfordpolice dept sit right in front of dope houses and watch the traffic the police dont care what happens in rockford they only want thier check

I agree. To keep it open, there is a couple of times this page has actually kept my kids and I safe, from walking into something going on. Or driving in a unsafe area!

Nothing to fear as only calls responding to are heard...no advance notice of raids , etc.,,,we should,and deserve to hear the scanner action as a public service and safety tool for the community
